W. D. Pickett
Fear not the night, nor the sorrow of loss, for they have gone into the light of the Lord. She was born into this world a child of Gods holy light Brought into this world to show us Gods love is right She loved the Lord every day and prayed to him every night. Gods love is marching on. Glory! glory, hallelujah! Glory! glory, hallelujah! Glory! glory, hallelujah! Shes an angel of the Lord Many tears fell the night that she was taken away Then she became an angel of the Lord, from that she did not stray In that glory of Gods love, she did show us the way. Gods love is marching on. (Chorus) As she became one of our Lords heavenly host She knelt in the presence of God, and prayed for us the most Let us remember her in the shining light of the Holy Ghost Gods love is marching on. (Chorus) She was only in this world for God's determined years But with her smile and her cheer, she took away our fears And with our great Gods love, she dried away our tears. Gods love is marching on. (Chorus) As the gentle Lord stretches forth his mighty hand To comfort those who cry and mourn across this land Let us not forget that she is one of his heavenly band. Gods love is marching on. (Chorus)

Tricky Trina, SASS #59582L
I have updated the original post with service information. Thanks to all our pards, those we already have met and those we haven't, for all the prayers and kind words. Miz Annie was the lady who has inspired me to dress girly for my shoots nowadays. Her book, "What Women Wore" and articles in the Chronicle were tributes to her love of period dress. Trina

Miz Annie will be laid to rest beside Tensleep in the Edom, TX, cemetery at 1:30pm on Thursday. Service will be handled by Eubanks Funeral Home of Canton, TX. We thought of Miz Annie as one of our own and are heartbroken that we can't make it to the service. TBone, Ellie, Nuttin, and Honey B

Toccoa Kate SASS #47669
Fear not the night, nor the sorrow of loss, for they have gone into the light of the Lord. God’s love is marching on. (Chorus) At this point I cried my tears for Miz Annie Ross and cried again for Tensleep. They were two very special people who taught us all so much! One just cannot explain how generous they were to all of us, how much they helped us join their cowboy shooting sport, how much they made us laugh. They honestly cared about you and had hearts of gold. Thanks for this song, is is beautiful!

Titus A. Gnatsass, SASS #71705
Fannie and I are both saddened to see another of the bright lights of the SASS world dimmed. Miz Annie was a pleasure to be around, always chipper and upbeat regardless of her circumstances. And a real trooper as well! Had the pleasure of posse'n with her a couple of years back at CAC after she took a tumble out of a moving golf cart! A quick trip to the emergency room, bandaged (stitched?) up and right back at, she was! Smilin' the whole time. SHE WILL BE MISSED!
Howdy Doody
I am sorry to hear this. She was what SASS is. My favorite picture is of her and Tensleep. She wearing that bright green dress. God bless her and keep her close.
Preach N. Mann, SASS #55887
It's been a few years since I last read or posted on the Wire so it was sad to read about Miz Annie Ross; she was a fine lady and a good shooter. It's at times like these that I think back to the time when we were growing up in a different kind of America, when we could say the Lord's prayer in Public School before the start of each day and even read a Psalm out of the Bible, when it was not a crime to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag or Sing America the Beautiful or all of the Stanzas of the Star Spangled Banner, when we could sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic and talk about the One whom we were singing about, when we had the seed of faith watered every day, even in Public School, so that when it was time to leave this God created Earth for His Heavenly Paradise we knew who was standing in the doorway to greet us and who gave us His hand to lead us into Paradise, just as He did to the good thief on the Day of His Passion. May the Lord give Miz Annie Ross's family peace and comfort and may we all put our hand in the hand of the One who created the waters and calmed the seas. Preach N. Honey Graceful, #51369
Adding to Tbone's post... Brian called back to say the grave side service will be at 1:00pm, not 1:30pm, on Thursday. I already miss my friend terribly. HBG
