Recommendations on Chaps

Looking for recommendations on the best chaps for our son. He is 15. Looking for something that will last him a while and to grow with him. He is 5’10”.

I think the tough part of what you're looking for is the 'grow with him' part.  The Iron Cowboy went from about 5'10" at 14 to 6'2.5" at 17, so it can be tough for clothes to keep up with that.

 

I only have one pair of chaps, which I recently purchased from Doc's Old West (he's on Facebook).  I really like the chaps.  He put more work into them than I asked him to, delivered early, and his price was very reasonable.

+1 for Doc’s Old West. I purchased a pair of chinks at Land Run last month. Absolutely incredible craftsmanship for a fair price. Seems a bunch of folks have purchased from them.

We are both new to the sport. Me more than him. Chinks are the shorter ones that go about knee length correct ?

You could buy the chinks a bit long so they will work as he grows.

I got a pair last summer from T Star Leather in OK.  I am totally pleased with them.  Brett does great work and can easily help you figure out a design for what you want and and the growth considerations.

Excellent.Sassy and I have several pairs of chinks from Doc's.

Koda Joe has number of pairs of chaps from them also. Great folks to deal with and awesome craftsmanship.

i recently got a pair of custo chinks from my go to leather gal - they are short enough a young person can grow and still wear them , the waiste is fully adjustable as well ,

 My Chaps were made by T - Star leather. Going going on 8 years and the chaps still look good. Brett made them from Buffalo hide.

Also if anyone is thinking about getting any chaps or chinks for gifts. I was advised they can be done before Christmas but that list is filling up fast.
