Ashley D Austin
I am considering purchasing a CZ Sharp Trail 20" Coach, but before I do I would like input from shooters on how it holds up to the demands of CAS as I attend a match almost every weekend. And, what work needs to be done on them for CAS competition? And, who is doing the work now? Would prefer an SKB 200 with a beaver tail fore stock, but they are hard to get a hold of. Thank you in advance, Ashely
Rip Snorter
If you are talking about the hammer gun, it is very well made and finished but very hard to cock and to break. Don't know if they are all like mine, which I sent back to CZ, but before I could use mine in a match it would need to go to a CAS smith for tuning. BTW, CZ was excellent in terms of responsiveness, but the gun came back only slightly improved. I don't know if they have a US facility that can work on long guns. Lucky Lead Pepper
I have been shooting one for two years now. I shoot 2-3 matches a month plus 3 state matches, regional, and nationals. My CZ has never let me down, it is an excellent shotgun for CAS. I did have mine slicked up by Longhunter. He no longer offers this service but I think there are others that do. Out of the box a CZ is useless for CAS as they are very stiff and difficult to open. Once they are slicked up, they work very well.
PW McKlintock
I've been shooting my CZ for a little over two years no issues, I believe Griner Gunworks is the guy to go to now for the CZ. The CZ is much heavier than any of the SKB model, but I prefer the extra weight.
Windy City Kid
Before my CZ ST was slicked up, it was a #$% to open. Slicked it almost falls open. Although you can disable the safety, I taped mine, which oddly lasted about a year before I had to retape. The only issue I had, after about 30 matches, the marble sight fell out. I believe it is a screwed in sight, and I never noticed it loose. CZ is sending me new sights (still able to use the post) and I will Loctite. Remington STS shucks perfectly out. Cemetery
Ken Griner Gunworks might be your best bet. https://grinergunworks.com/guns-for-sale/

The Original Lumpy Gritz
Bought one that Longhunter worked over. OUTSTANDING!
Shawnee Hills
Hold out for an SKB. While scarce, they are out there. I've gone through two CZ Sharptail Coaches. The first one was a worked over factory coach gun that didn't always open fully. The cocking rods needed adjusted but I never got around to it. The second one was a Sharptail cut to coach length from Ken Griner that worked well. I shot quite a few matches with them but always felt like I needed something better. On the advice of several very good shooters, I bought an SKB 150 and 200e. That change made a world of difference in my shotgun runs so the CZs went up for sale right quick and in a hurry. No doubt about it, the Sharptails are good shotguns and work well for this game. A well set up SKB is just better.
Texas Maverick
I have 2 that Ken Griner tuned and I don't see a need for another in my lifetime of shooting SASS. They have held up great and I have not had any problems with them. Ken does a great job tuning them up and is priced right. They are not an SKB but I didn't find one I liked and I was always reading where their stocks were splitting. I just didn't want to spend a bunch of money on something I knew would eventually cost me more money to repair. I have 2 CZ's because I felt I needed a backup of my main guns but have never had to go to my backup. Now I use it when I shoot blackpowder so it still gets shot at matches.
