Jedi Gunfighters

Howdy folks,   New SASS shooter here.  I noticed my new SASS friend Scarlet Darlin' is now on the Jedi gunfighter council.  It got me thinking: 

What exactly is a Jedi gunfighter?  How do you become one? What are the requirements.  Specifically: 

1. Do you have to shoot frontier cartridge?

2. Can you shoot smokeless or even frontiersman cap and ball? 

3. Any specific caliber sizes?  Dress?

4. As a new shooter, should I start off straight away as a gunfighter style or shoot two handed first?

You have to keep your eye on those Jedi's.  They can be a handful, particularly when they're playing with their lightsabers.

I've seen some brand new shooters start with gunfighter, but I'd recommend duelist or double duelist first and then try gunfighter.   Don't worry at all about speed at first, figure out everything else that's going on.

JEDI GF recognition ain't 'given' to anyone......... its earned.   

 

There are 4 Council members, of which any can choose someone to the JEDI ranks: Scarlett Darlin, Jed I Knight, Billy the Avenger (keeper of the

Light Saber), and Widder.

There are 2 basic  'cast in stone' requirements:   RO certified and shooting GF for atleast a year.

 

But there are many intangibles that enhance a person to earn that recognition.

And for the most part, a recommendation from a JEDI GF helps (sponsor).

 

JEDI GFer's have their own Pin and there are also JEDI belt buckles available.

 

The BIG intangible:   is the person an asset to SASS and their local club(s).

 

There are 'Master JEDI', which are the hardest to achieve.   ALL 4 Council members MUST approve 'Master'.

There are "JEDI GF of the Year".    A majority of the Council must approve this recognition.

For everyone else - this couple JUMPED INTO SASS - both feet AND in the DEEP end! They are having so much fun and really enjoying themselves! They’re a real asset to SASS. They live in Michigan. Started this summer - have been to Guns of August, Michigan, Land Run and now NC!  They’ve got it bad!! 🥰

Thanks Scarlett,   We are having sooo much fun!   We roped our son out of Fort Bragg and he will be shooting with us this weekend in NC too!   Yeehaw 🤠

"An experienced Jedi can use the Force to implant a suggestion in the minds of those they encounter, encouraging them to comply with the Jedi's wishes."

So, how does this work with spotters and TOs?

Well, in a nut shell, it only works if the spotters and TO are not JEDI.....

 

If the spotter or the TO is a JEDI, the shooter incurring the infraction ain't got a chance with any influence or mind

control.....

I subtly influence the spotters when I miss by quietly muttering "crap" and "shoot" and the occasional "darn"

@Ciderbarrel, The NC State match sure was fun!  Good to meet you and maybe we will be on the same posse next year.  

 

Your costuming was first class, very impressive!!  The Cavalier Cowboys would be honored to host you up here in VA, if you enjoyed the NC State match you would also enjoy the VA State match.

@Will Kane @Widder, SASS #59054 the only Jedi Mind trick I have successfully used is to have an AD hit the target! No tricks for the spotters or TO! 
 

@Ciderbarrel you should DEFINITELY take @Bingo Montana up on the Virginia match offer! It’s a lot of fun!

Yes, Indeed.

Jed I Knight is an asset to SASS and Cowboy Action Shooting.

 

His reputation is well known even on this side of the Mississippi.

His videos and video productions are 1st class.
