kit
Howdy. Will a SBH hammer drop right in my ruger new vaquero?
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Drop in parts drop-in until they do not. It SHOULD drop-in. Sometimes variations in the various parts will cause some fitment issues.
Rex M Rugers #6621
Ditto what Larsen said. I have put about a dozen in various Rugers that I have owned , and they have all worked fine. Rex
Snakebite
I've never had a problem, but keep your eyes open and when you get the original one out compare it to the replacement very carefully. Snakebite
Three Foot Johnson
I think I've got SBH hammers in sixteen of my Vaqueros/New Vaqueros, and they've all been 100% plug & play. I put a couple in a pair of .44-40's last week and shot them this weekend - it didn't help my scores any, but easier to shoot them one handed now.
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Maybe, no guarantees....
Tall John
If you have never fully stripped a NMV, suggest that you purchase this tool: https://rwgripframes-com.3dcartstores.com/loading-gate-spring-depressor.html

Eyesa Horg
Or watch the video on Ruger's site and use a small screwdriver. An old micrometer makes a handy clamp too.

Sedalia Dave
I use this mini pic set from Harbor Freight. $1.99 plus tax.
Three Foot Johnson
I've got a couple different ones with a screw, but that slide on one looks pretty dang slick, and it's a little less expensive.
Sedalia Dave
It's also a lot easier when you insert the pin from the loading gate side of the frame.
The Rainmaker, SASS #11631
When they're out, I give the spring and pin a little "smoothing" where they click in together. Makes disassembly/reassembly much easier; especially if you're doing some tuning and have to take parts in and out repeatedly.
Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L
I have the tool with the screw went on and ordered this one--my justification is I'll review it for my club--at least that's what I'm telling myself
