Assassin Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 19 years ago on this weekend EOT 2005 was held at Founders Ranch. It snowed about 1/4" and the Californian's thought it was coming a blizzard.

Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971 Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 I remember seeing water dishes for dogs froze over. Ice had to be broken before the dogs could drink. I stayed at home and commuted to the match. It was just another late winter match at Founders Ranch. None of the ladies wore their soiled dove costumes.
Hells Comin Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 2005 doesn't seem like its been that long. What about the wind?

First time meeting and/or shooting with Half-a-Hand Henri, Dingo Dave & Sixgun Sallie, Charlie Bowdrie, Will Reilly, Constable Nelson, Cerveza Slim, Sawyer, Rick-O-Shea, Querita Kate... and that's all I can remember tight now.
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 I was thinking 1/4" of snow. Sure seemed like more than that. Then I remembered I was thinking about Smoke in the Valley. EOT was cold, drizzly, muddy and if I recall correctly one person got helicoptered out with a broken leg.

That was Colorado Big Al, he didn't break his leg. He did take a really hard fall, and he was a big man.
watab kid Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 1/4" is just a dusting , like frost on the pumpkin in the fall ,

Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 That was my first EOT, remember it well! SASS found out the weather in New Mexico was a lot different that time of year from what is had been in California.
Double Barrel, SASS 34765 Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Seems like it was more than a 1/4”. I do remember that a few tons of gravel disappeared.

Assassin Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 Belle Drewry and I were married at EOT 04/27/05. We had a large audience. I had a ball and chain around my ankle and a monkey on my back. We're still married after 19 years. She's a good gal for putting up with my grumpy attitude.

I thought Belle married Louisiana Lightning.
