Flawed Democracies

Why is the USA, the leader of the Free World listed as a 'Flawed Democracy' unlike Britian, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and some other countries being listed as 'Full Democracy'?

Not trusting the above new article I Googled (always dangerous) and found this -

The definition of a Democracy is "Governed by the Will of the People" aka "Majority Rule" aka "Mob Rule"

As Pat Riot pointed out, the United States is not a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Federal Republic.

Given how badly the Turdou has trampled on the civil rights of Canadians since 2020, any group that would rate them a full democracy is using flawed logic.

Perhaps because our Constitution contains deliberately non-democratic features, while always retaining a representative character. The biggest example is probably the Senate, the more powerful of the two houses (except in its inability to initiate appropriations), which gives each state, regardless of size, two senators.

This well-known feature really gripes modern lovers of 'democracy'. To them, democracy itself is the ideal. To our Founders, liberty is.

The problem in a Democracy or Republic lies not in the theory it lies in the select few having power , Want to go down a rabbit hole look into DARPA  and its "relationship " with Google and Facebook and I will let that one for anyone to make their own opinion

Australia has its version of DARPA as well, that's now tied in with the USA through AUKUS.

Russia would meet the definition of a constitutional Federal republic, but is it really?  No.

If Putin says so it is!

Drilling down -- the main factor that drove the U.S. from 'Full Democracy' to 'Flawed Democracy' were drops in the its scores in 'Political Culture', and 'Functioning of Government'. The change came in 2016.

Go back to the 2016 report, and the commentary is that the change from 'Full . . ' to 'Flawed . . ' was largely attributable to a drop in public trust in the government. The report went on to say that the decline in trust was not due to Trump, but came before his election.

Given the degree to which the media has involved itself in shaping public opinion, I'd tend to point in that direction, especially considering the media's reporting on the 2016 presidential campaign.
