Who reloads 357 Sig?

Recommended Posts

I thought I’d deprimer them and offer them up for sale. The primer pockets flash hole are a bit tight. It cost me a decapping pin in only the first 10 rounds (RCBS universal decapper).

Is there a small size decapping pin for the resizing die?

Thanks,

Uriah

I shoot and reload for the .357 SIG, BUT..... I don't need any more brass.   I got a ton of it.

But I do confirm the small flash hole problem with about 30% of my brass and I also broke a decapping pin early on in

reloading for it.

I now drill open all my flash hole to the appropriate diameter and everything works great.

As for the smaller decapping pin, I faintly recall polishing down a new pin to work with those SMALL flash holes, and then drill

them open just a tad.   You only have to polish down the lower section of the pin that pushes thru the flash hole.

I had to GOOGLE to find out but apparently it stands for Swiss Industrial Company..... BUT in German, the actual letters are SIG.

Don't ask me to spell those German words cause I can't.

You don't want to know the number of people I've seen who brought a box of 357 SIG ammo to the cash register intended for their 357 magnum revolver.

RCBS makes two different sizes of decamping pins. They may interchange in the newer headed style, but the old dies with a straight decap pin were made in two sizes of pin holder.

They also make two sizes of the universal decal dies. One small and one large…..

Good Luck!

I've got a full size S&W M&P .40 with spare 9mm and .357 SIG barrels I bought a dozen years ago. The only .357 SIG I've ever owned, and I can't remember the last time I shot it with ANY of the barrels. I doubt it's had much more than a hundred rounds combined through it. Maybe not even a hundred. It really needs to go.

Gun magazine did a feature some time back. The writer had a Colt Delta 10mm. He fitted .40 cal and 357 Sig barrels to it.

I picked up a SIG P229 Legion in .40 S&W for a song when the anti-40 craze hit a few years ago.  Found a 357 SIG barrel that was a drop in for $40.  I've shot it in IDPA competition with the 357 SIG barrel in place a few times.  Can't remember the last time I carried the gun with either barrel in place.

I'll probably be criticized for this, but that's O.K. because it goes against the more common instructions on reloading the .357 SIG

I keep attention on the OAL of the brass, BUT...... I headspace on the shoulder.   Common teaching says to headspace on the neck

(case mouth) but I have found better results and reliability with the headspace on the shoulder.

I shoot my reloads in two different pistols:   SIG P320 and the SIG P229 Legion.
