Grumpy old farts with Guns

Recommended Posts

Well I didn't win the Cadilac,,, But I made more Smoke than everyone else... 3rd in Category ...

My finger didn't hamper my shooting too badly, but it did slow me down some...

It was really sore by the end of each day and nobody offered to clean my guns for me :(...

But it went well as a whole, this is our Clubs first crack at hosting the Nationals ...

I'm getting fitted for a heart monitor this week.  Seems old sawbones doesn;t like my pulse rate down in the 30's.  May be why I'm getting so lightheaded.  That's what makes me grumpy.  Youth is wasted on the youngins.

I made it through a match last Sat with the Freegrazers but had to sit a lot.  Old age ain't for sissys.

I think next time I’ll make a raspberry pie! She doesn’t like raspberry!! <_<

I probably bake a dozen or more pies a year.  I can never get a really good store bought fruit pie, at least one that meets my standards.

I mostly do cherry, apple, and blueberry, but I do a nice blackberry a couple of times a year.

If I don’t cook down my own filling, I’ll use two big cans of store bought filling and add spices and some honey and brown sugar.  I have used frozen fruit, but it’s more work to do it that way.

I like big pies with lots of filling and good flaky crust. I always use the big deep dish pie plate and cook in my spices before I put the filling in the pie!  Makes the filling less runny and my pie stands up to reheating so’s the ice cream melts just a little when served.

I think I’ll go get me a slice before it’s all gone!!

g’night!!!

Not a problem!!

She wants ice cream.

I’m still a bit stove up.

She’s gotta do several things to get it so’s I could go and get ice cream.

OR!  She can hop in the car and go get ice cream! <_<

I DO play the cripple card once in a while….

‘SIDES!! I bake the pies!!

Thanks there, CLK!!

I reckon if you can rescue the thread from page four, the least I can do is haul it to the top of the front page!!

I spent four hours in “registration” at the hospital last Thursday, getting checked in and finding a room. That’s my GRUMP for the day!

It took less than half that time to have the procedure done and be back in the room before lunch the next morning!

All good news at this point! I’m home and in no pain!  I don’t need IV antibiotics to finish off the infection!  And from now on, I’ll get a 10% discount on pedicures!!

We decided to remove the section of my foot that has been so much trouble these past six plus years when a new infection attacked!  Those bones behind the “pinkie toe” had been damaged before and it was evident that they needed to go. Since the toe itself would just be hanging on by the skin, I figured that it would just be another place for trouble to develop.

ANYWAY! I’m home, it all looks good, and it’s likely to heal up much quicker and more completely now that it’s done!

I lost sight of this thread for awhile.

Good Grief! Where did all the GRUMPS go?

Blackwater, how is the foot doing?

Anyway, here's some more little known Canadiana.

Busy next few days with eye operation on Monday, annual VA exam on Thursday, knee evaluation on following Monday, skeletal exam on Tuesday, elk closes on Tuesday, Buffalo Arms regular visit, too GD many BS things plus hosting The Birthday on the Tenth.

Too many miles at too many dollars- thanks Joe!!!

It has rained on Opening Day of elk and deer plus every GD day! Soggy elk hunting by this arthritic elder has not contributed to much smiling and jocularity.

I'm not cranky-just f----g realistic!!!

The foot is doing…    okay!  I’m waiting on the home health people to pay me a visit later today.  They’re going to set up a “wound-vac” unit to promote more rapid healing.

Gonna be a busy week! Schoolmarm has her quarterly oncology exam on Wednesday and I have a foot doctor appointment. Thursday is my quarterly hearing aid appointment and the first night of the high school play that my grandson is acting in, (he’s playing Frankenstein’s monster) part of a three night affair. Saturday evening is a huge Halloween party that we help out with.

All of that and now the home health people will be coming three days a week!!

It’s good to see ol’ Mud Marine back in the Saloon, even if he IS having trouble staying dry!! I hope he gets something for the freezer!

Y’all stay GRUMPY!!

Yeah, I was talking to a buddy, who tells me the Queen Elizabeth highway, from his place to Red Deer, is a mess.

No snow here yet. Temp is heading down and is around 6 C. right now.

Knees are aching and the whole left leg. Buddies still after me to go deer hunting, starting on November 6

Fine for me, if I didn't have to walk more than 50 feet and didn't have to haul one out, but it gets old pretty fast, if everyone else has to do your share of the work, wile you sit on your duff!

Oh well, I had a good kick at the cat when I was healthy.

They dropped off a nice moose roast yesterday and I cooked it last night. Tender.

Lord, I miss the hunts!
