I will assume that it's walking the dog, but why?

Sadly, our mis-government is allowing blockades by a small minority, to block busy city streets, rail lines etc, but will go berserk about someone outside in some places, not wearing a mask.

Was listening to my radio DJ the other day talk about how he used to go to Canada for Christmas at his grandparents' house every year.  His grandma would get everyone up early to open presents, but there would be no coffee because Tim Horton's wasn't open...as they grew older, they purchased a coffee pot for grandma and grandpa, it only got used on christmas morning each year.

It's called a toque. (Pronounced TOOOK)

Here's a picture of a typical special occasion on a Canadian highway.

How absolutely true, especially in Ontario.  Remember, I lived there for 9 years, North Bay, Ottawa & Barrie.  Common winter scene in the 400.

...... why do you call a beanie something it's not ?

We like to throw in some French, Indian and Inuit words just to confuse people.

I'm glad to see it's working!!

This is a beanie.

It is a skull cap. It may or may not have an extremely small brim on it.

It is made of woven cloth. Triangle sewn together to make the skull cap shape.

For some stupid reason they occasionally put propellers on the top. But they are not knitted.

Those things on up the thread - normal intelligent people in the United States refer to them either as stocking caps or as watch caps.

This is how they have been called for at least a hundred years. Then 10 or 15 years ago the young people, who had no clue what a beanie was, and who also had no clue what to call these things, decided they were beanies. Like many things that are latest generation has come up with, they are wrong.

Now as to why Canadians call a stocking cap a toque - I think it probably has something to do with brain freeze. Or maybe hanging around them people from Quebec. Did you know that in Quebec they call eggnog chicken milk? True. Them people is weird.
