I am not familiar with the AK 47, so I ask. How did he get it on the train in the first place?

Perhaps as a take down in his pack and he re assembled it in the toilet?

Looks like he had a short model. Maybe a Krinkov or Zastava. Easily concealed in a backpack.

My mistake to repeat the first reporting, but still proud of our servicemen who responded. Heroes all. The airman apparently suffered a bad hand injury, it was a civilian that was cut badly in the neck. The following link is more up to date: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/france-train-shooting-us-soldiers-speak-of-the-moment-they-stopped-gunman-and-beat-him-until-he-was-unconscious-10466861.html

Any late reports on the Airman and how he is doing.

Shot in the neck does not sound like a lot of fun.

Stars and Stripes reports that he is stable and his injuries are not life threatening.

The magazines I saw were 7.62x39 so most likely a Zastava M92.

Last news report I saw called the mags "cartridges".

Will they ever get it right.
