I have never seen a 92 0r a 92 style action with side plates . If you have a link to one I would like to see it , just out of curiosity .

It is MY understanding , could be wrong , the 92 was 1 peice , to make it stronger and simpler to make into differant cal. by the use of differant shell guides and other internal parts .

That's a pretty weird illusion! What you're seeing is the transition from the flat receiver side to the rounded top & bottom and then out to the full receiver width at each end. Get one out of the safe and you'll see what I mean.

That is a cover plate for the "optional magazine loading" feature. Pic is reversed.

They are also producing a 45-70 AND a lever S/S .410? :lol::wub::);)B):P

Yah. The most important thing on that page:

Lifetime Repair Policy

You'll need it.

Rossi 92's do not have side plates. The receiver is one piece and assembly from the top. That is one of the reasons the 92 action is so much stronger than the others.

Really?

The current Rossi 92's are much better quality than the current Marlins and less money, too.

I agree with Nate on the quality of the new Rossi's verses the new Marlin's. I have had several of the new Rossi 92's

and they have performed flawlessly.

Yup - with Nate too. The Rossi is a good gun out of the box. The one I bought from Outlaw Gambler functioned great out of the box. Deuce Stevens slicked it up some and it runs smoother too. ;)

I have 5 Rossi 92s and every one of them have been great as rifles. My 45 Colt is one of the most accurate lever guns that I own also.
