Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 P D I have never seen a 92 0r a 92 style action with side plates . If you have a link to one I would like to see it , just out of curiosity . It is MY understanding , could be wrong , the 92 was 1 peice , to make it stronger and simpler to make into differant cal. by the use of differant shell guides and other internal parts . CB

Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Here's one in .357 http://www.rossiusa....n/R92-56011.jpg http://www.rossiusa....eadcrumbseries= another one who fell for the trickery of illusion GG ~
Three Foot Johnson Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 That's a pretty weird illusion! What you're seeing is the transition from the flat receiver side to the rounded top & bottom and then out to the full receiver width at each end. Get one out of the safe and you'll see what I mean.
Jacknife Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 That is a cover plate for the "optional magazine loading" feature. Pic is reversed.
Deacon Will Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 They are also producing a 45-70 AND a lever S/S .410?
Jack Houston # 35508 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Wouldn't mind having one of these! One of the few 6 round revolvers around anymore! http://www.rossiusa.com/product-details.cfm?id=139&category=1&toggle=&breadcrumbseries=
Marshal TKD, Sass # 36984L Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Well ain't nobody said it, so I will. That is one ugly 45-70 rifle. Back to original post, I do believe it is a illusion in the photo.
Manatee Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Yah. The most important thing on that page: Lifetime Repair Policy You'll need it.
Nate Kiowa Jones #6765 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Rossi 92's do not have side plates. The receiver is one piece and assembly from the top. That is one of the reasons the 92 action is so much stronger than the others. Yah. The most important thing on that page: Lifetime Repair Policy You'll need it. Really? The current Rossi 92's are much better quality than the current Marlins and less money, too.
Johnny Meadows,SASS#28485L Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I agree with Nate on the quality of the new Rossi's verses the new Marlin's. I have had several of the new Rossi 92's and they have performed flawlessly. Johnny M.
Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Yup - with Nate too. The Rossi is a good gun out of the box. The one I bought from Outlaw Gambler functioned great out of the box. Deuce Stevens slicked it up some and it runs smoother too. GG ~
Rube Burrows Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I have 5 Rossi 92s and every one of them have been great as rifles. My 45 Colt is one of the most accurate lever guns that I own also.
Pay Dirt Norvelle #90056 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I have a Rossi 92 in 45 Colt that has been worked on by Nate and it is a great rifle!
Hillbilly Jim Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Maybe Rossi beefed up the side of the reciever to add extra strength for the 454. My Rossi's run perfectly.
