  1. I was griping about something at work a few days back. My boss commented about me not liking my job. I think she worries because I'm "over-qualified" and retail has a high turnover rate. I looked at her and grinned. Told her I like my job just fine, that I complained about the Army Reserve and the National Guard for over twenty years too, but kept reenlisting. Yes, if the right job comes along, I will leave, but I think everyone would say that. Of course, it doesn't look like that is happening any time soon.

  2. Not to take anything away from the MEC, but my Redding single stage is also an iron frame machine.

  3. 32 you say! Serious you say! Hardcore you say! With weather this warm, me and Thunder Creek will prolly go down to the creek and bust a hole in the ice and go swimmin' jus ta cool off after the shoot. Ya with me Thunder? Don't worry though, Rye and Coffinmaker will be sittin by the heater all rolled up in their blankees eatin' their cookies and drinkin warm milk. They'll prolly be sendin' love notes ta each other full of a bunch of smiley faces. :P

  4. Hole where detent is fitted. ({Punch in hole to show where it is.) Detent, spring, and set-screw. To me the easier loading and unloading more than offsets any perceived benefits of the reverse spin. Unless I am installing s short stroke I leave them in.

  7. Great day at Tusco. Weather was crisp and invigorating. It was a balmy 33° when we finished shooting. Me and Thunder went down the creek after the shoot for a cooling dip but the ice was too thick and we couldn't bust a hole in with our gun butts so mebbee next time. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

  9. Lyman's T-Mag is also a cast iron press, and a fine turret press also. Far more desirable than the new MEC single stage press. Just as portable, and actually allows for setting up two calibers, fully adjusted. As already stated, it's about 30 to 40 years too late in the game. RBK

  10. I agree with Larson's last sentence in his last post...actually I agree with everything that he said here. I had shot original models for years and I have one New Vaquero and I really love the cylinder alignment when loading. I, personally, consider the reverse pawl on original models a waste of money and time. As for New Models I like the way they are set up from the factory so I will not be modifying mine. I am buying another one soon as a mate to the one that I have. Like Larson said, check for high primers away from the loading table and if you do get one slipped in on you, pull the cylinder pin and remove the cylinder to clear it. The only times I encountered a high primer I was using ammo that I didn't load myself. Once was a factory load and the other was when I was trying a load that someone else had made up but that one wasn't at a match.

  12. There is virtually zero market for BP shotshells, especially 20 gauge shells. Even in SASS, which is one of the few places BP shotshells are used, there are VERY few people using 20 gauge BP shells. You say you need 6 to 10 boxes. That is going to run around $120.00 to $200.00. If you buy a Lee loader for $45.00 and then load 10 boxes you will be money ahead. Here is one source that advertises them and had some in the past. I don't know if they have any in stock. http://www.ows-ammo.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=125

  16. Yes, Federal hulls work just fine for roll crimp loads. That's what I was using in the video I made. I like the roll crimp hulls. The roll actually puts a slight tapper on the hull. But I consider roll crimped plastic hulls as disposable. I have so many premium hulls available, I didn't need all the odd two-pieces hulls with steel bases. I did keep about 1,000 Remington Gun Club hulls.

  18. If the lever is open and the bolt is away from the chamber how can the round fire out of battery if the FIring pin can't reach the round? *Side Note* It's always polite to contact the manufacturer before going on public forums with unhappy rants. I always stand behind all my products and support SASS/shooters to the fullest. Slick.
