  2. Howdy all, I have been hankering to try a pair of open tops, shooting Classic Cowboy. But I would need them slicked up a bit, maybe have the hammers “lowered” for easier duelist shooting with my old thumbs. Does anyone know who the resident gunsmith guru is for open tops? Thanks, Myron
  3. Swapping Bisley grip frames onto my single six 32s, using regular single six hammers and triggers because I cannot get Single Six hammers. First gun went fine - swapped the grips frames, assembled, cocked, dry fired. Picture 1 - gun is cocked, ready to fire Second gun did not go fine - swapped the grip frames, assembled, cocked....jammed. Picture 2 - trigger cannot be pulled, hammer cannot be released without disassembly. The extra metal at the top of the grip frame is just because I have not yet filed it down to match the cylinder frame. I swapped the grip frame that worked with the one that did not....problem stayed with the cylinder frame. Picture 3 shows the difference I have found in the cylinder frames. One is "taller" by several thousandths of an inch. Note the amount of metal above the pawl spring hole. The "taller' one on the left works. "Shorter" one on the right does not work I measured my other guns and found one with the "taller" cylinder frame. Assembled it and it works (picture 1). Tried a "shorter" one and it does not work. I cannot get my mind around the workings of internals - hammer strut, hammer, trigger etc. well enough to envision what is going on or how to correct the problem. Has anyone else encountered this situation....taller and shorter cylinder frames, locking up trigger, hammer when cocked? I will appreciate any feedback, comments, suggestions. Thank you. Ozark Okie PS - I have two working Bisley Single Sixes (both "taller" cylinder frames) but one is blue and one stainless. I want to make my other stainless one ("shorter") work.

  6. Before you try to fix, or have somebody work on, your rifle, try your rifle with another shooter's ammo, and try your ammo in somebody else's rifle. Reliable ammo goes a long way. Not all ammo plays well with all rifles.
  7. Pizza was always go out with friends. By the time we were past that stage of life we could find it online. Growing up, the only place that delivered was "Don't cook tonight, call Chicken Delight!"
  8. I use once fired hulls, typically either STS, or the red Winchester AA's. Also started roll crimping since I had a hell of a time dealing with sticking shells at one State match a year ago, rarely, if ever, stick now. Also mop out the chambers after each stage.
  9. .45 LC, factory from S&B and Fiocchi, RNFP. I was watching it up close and slow last night, and it looks like the cartridge is either ever so slightly lower than the chamber or coming in at a slight angle; the edge of the brass is catching the chamber mouth. It doesn't happen every time, and it would kind of stop happening for a few shots in a row. Backing the bolt off a little gets it un-stuck (the round kind of pops off its rim and into the chamber mouth), and the round will chamber smoothly. Having slept on it, I'm pretty much resolved to bring it to a smith. All the problems I read about that could cause this are things I have no experience doing, and I have never worked on any of these guns before. Not to mention... I like the idea of getting a pro to tune the rifle up, though honestly I just need it to chamber smoothly . I was having to work the lever twice per shot.
  10. If you want to use Remington STS shells look for Premier STS Low Recoil STS12LR8. 1100 fps. Be sure to save your hulls for when you start reloading. Welcome to the most fun you can have with your clothes on!! Randy
  11. At our club, Verdant Mountain Vigilantes, we do a Josey Wales option in the fall. The only thing different from a normal match is the option to use a second pair of pistols for the rifle strings. We still use a shotgun. Makes brass picking easy! Folks can also use their rifle if the prefer in the normal categories.
  12. At Wartrace we do Josey Wales with 5 revolvers. Randy
