Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Not sure why you'd want an accurate varmint.

A friend of mine gave it to me a few years back.
Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 This is what I call varmint accuracy! My .220 Ackley Improved Swift 3 shot group that is really one hole @ over 4,000 fps.
DeaconKC Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 @Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life Superb! And I love your rifle!

Pat Riot Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I love that old scope. I took a couple screen shots and put them together. Imagine handing that rifle and scope to a modern Precision Rifle Shooter. It would be fun to watch, I’m sure.

I had a 22 Hornet about 40 year ago that was accurate like that. 3 shots at a 100 yards that could be covered by a dime. I let a friend that just loved the rifle talk me out of it and i kick myself even to this day for selling it. He ended up having it stolen from a home break-in a few years later. He killed a lot of prairie dogs and squirrels with that rifle. TM

I had the 03 Springfield action from another project I never finished. I also built the thumbhole stock. I originally built the stock for a hunting rifle which I found to be rather clumsy working the safety with my thumb inside the stock. Works great for this application tho! I am an Ackley fan and I have shot a ton of prairie dogs with this gun.
bgavin Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 I have a Savage LRPV in 223 I want to take on a dawg hunt next spring. It is a single shot model with the 26" bull barrel.
