Pat Riot Posted March 30, 2024 Author Posted March 30, 2024 Epoch Times is really ticking me off. I apologize for the pay-wall.
J-BAR #18287 Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 ...and that's why I pay AT&T with a check rather than a credit card.

Texas Joker Posted March 31, 2024 Posted March 31, 2024 When the DOD lost my personal data and the next year the social security department lost it again I stopped worrying

Yeah. Epoch Times is really ticking me off. With an online subscription you can or you could copy several articles a month and send them to folks or post them somewhere without the recipient having to play games to see the article. I guess that “benefit” disappeared. What’s ironic is they, Epoch Times, is always talking about the shady Chinese govt. seems like they are also “shady”.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted March 31, 2024 Posted March 31, 2024 I’m on my son’s ATT plan. He has the payment deducted from his bank account. I sometimes go in the ATT store and pay the bill with my Credit Card. He doesn’t want me to but I do. Hope we didn’t get hacked

If someone steals my identity they can’t do much at all in the way of taking out loans or getting credit cards in my name. So far since I have retired (July 2022 to now) the following has been hacked: 1. A former agency’s retirement system. 2. My main medical insurance. 3. A former agency’s HR dept. 4. AT&T These are what I know about. What is really sad and messed up is our so called “government” hasn’t done or won’t do sh** about it. The cyber crimes, I mean. I am pretty sure they don’t want to because they are trying to come up with a way to control our money and be a “benevolent overseer” of all things monetary. Biden is pushing for Central Bank Digital Currency. That’s Techno Communism, in my book. But, I digress.
bgavin Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 I have to chuckle... folks irate about data breaches... who still have Facebook accounts. All those little quizzes are data-mining efforts that when collated provide a huge amount of your personal information.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 PayPal let some guy take $14 from my account. I no longer leave a card active there. A bank would give me the $14 but PayPal is not a bank and said that IF they recovered the money they’d return it to me.
Eyesa Horg Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Just recently had a PP refund experience. Got scammed on an Internet order, pretty much my fault for not really paying attention! I placed an order that for all intents, looked like Best Buy. They only took credit cards. Entered all my info, pressed "Place order" and instantly I saw the PP screens flash by. Within seconds, my credit card company called to inform they froze my card and asked about the charge which was $20 higher. Got the confirmation from the fake vendor and PP. Called PP on Monday (a month ago) and explained and filed an "unauthorized use" claim. A week later got an email saying it was denied as it was similar to my normal usage. All and all it took a month of waiting and talking to people that don't speak my sort of English. The last lady resubmitted it as "didn't receive product". Finally yesterday, 9 days after the last call, they refunded my money. Phew! Thank goodness it was just $55.79
bgavin Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I cancelled my PayPal account for the same above reason.
Eyesa Horg Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I use it primarily for purchases from Pards here on the wire.

All this identity theft business is why I have frozen my credit. I will not use PayPal or Discover card. Long story short I bought something on eBay. There was an additional $11 charge for no reason. I cancelled the transaction with Discover. Both entities froze my accounts. 6 months later they both came back and said it was my fault. They were right. My fault for dealing with Scum. I will pay for only one thing via PayPal. A forum that I like uses PP to process “Contributing Membership”. I put it on my card via PP but I don’t need an account for this.
bgavin Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I would first ask if they have Zelle or similar. PayPal is far too invasive today.
