This is Dick Bong, USAAF. Medal of Honor recipient. Ace of Aces. 40 kills in the Pacific theater flying a P38. Took a while to do it. NOT A GHOST. A TRUE HERO. RIP.

And he did it flying against veteran Japanese Army and Navy pilots that had cut their teeth over China.

William Avery "Billy" Bishop was a Canadian WW1 air ace who was credited with shooting down seventy two (72) German aircraft.  His son, Arthur Bishop served in the RCAF during  WWll and was credited with shooting down one (1)  German aircraft.  Arthur used to joke that, between him and his Dad, they shot down 73 enemy aircraft.
