Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
I am trying to use monofilament (.3mm) to tie up a folded sheet to the back of my swivel chair to make a lumbar support. The idea is to thread the mono through holes in the back of the chair, around the sheet, repeat maybe four loops and tie it off. I think do this at least five times.the stickler is what knot do I use? I have enough monofilament that that I can waste a few tries.

Pat Riot
The square not will come undone using monofilament lines. Try the “Blood Knot”. https://www.bassfishingandcatching.com/blood-knot.html Here is another good one that might be the one you need: Surgeon’s Knot https://www.bassfishingandcatching.com/surgeons-knot.html

Alpo
I agree with Pat that the square knot will come undone. Back in Boy Scouts I learned something that was called a fisherman's knot. You simply tie an overhand knot in one end, run the other end through the loop of the overhand knot, then using the second end tie an overhand knot around the standing part of the first end. You then pull the knots closed And then draw the two knots toward each other by pulling the two lines. The two knots act as jam nuts against each other, and it will not untie by itself. sassnetguy50
X2 for Pat's blood knot. It is a reinforced version of Alpo's fisherman knot.
