Beware of "Fake News" aka Blatant Lies

In just under a month, we've seen how utterly despicable the media is, can be and will be. As I've said and written about previously, this sort of "reporting" aka fabricating, will continue to escalate throughout the entire period of the Trump presidency--bank on it. Best defense; don't believe anything coming from the main stream media, challenge it all and keep your eye on the long term objective of preserving the Second Amendment as it was intended.

And it is not limited to firearms. Everything the mainstream news reports is 99% fabrication. The news media has gotten so bad that I am at a loss for words to describe how sad it makes me feel. :(

On top of the news are the protesters that have resorted to violence and intimidation to get their way.

I am wondering how much longer before we have another civil war because the liberals are abandoning the constitution and embracing a totalitarian government. They call us fascists and racists when the reality is the exact opposite. :( And to top if all off the media is actually encouraging it.

This has been a growing problem ever since at least the Nixon era, if not since LBJ!!

It has gotten progressively worse, with only the Carter years remaining equal from start to finish!

The MSM adored Odumbass, so they lied through their teeth in HIS favor!

They ridiculed and vilified W and Reagan and HW!! They despise Trump because he played 'em like a jukebox!!

They lied about HRC, obfuscating her evil doings and hiding how much she was HATED by the average non-coastal state citizens!!

I see no letup in sight, unless Trump can do what Reagan did and capture the hearts of a large majority of Americans! Get our 2A rights secured and fix the economy and immigration!! Healthcare should follow easily when this is accomplished!! Bully your senators and representatives!! Hammer 'em until they can only see one way out!! OUR WAY!!

However, do not lose sight of recent polling data which is encouraging.

Pew noted recently that support for gun rights are up.

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/04/17/despite-lower-crime-rates-support-for-gun-rights-increases/

I conduct my own impromptu research at gun shows. While no doubt the actions of Democrats restricting gun ownership encouraged people to get firearms, the availability of CCW has had a dramatic effect on the demographics of gun ownership.

Early last year, licensed CCWs (as opposed to Constitutional carry where no license is required) were approaching 14 million, the more significant data were that 1 in 4 of every new application was by a woman. It was estimated then that the number of women with their CCW was around 4 million.

That number is hugely significant. It means if you put all the women with their CCW in one city they could fill a city the size of Houston or Chicago.

My oberservations at Louisiana gun shows indicated a subtle change in the demographics at gun shows. Around the end of 2014 females generally showed up with some kind of male: immediate family, cousin, boyfriend, colleague from work. The type of firearm they were generally interested were those for conceal carry.

Beginning in early 2016, women started showing up by themselves or with their girlfriends. The reasons they were there varied quite a bit. Probably most frequently it was securing a gun for one of their girlfriends, then getting a second gun, and then accessories for their firearms.

I had one group of females tell me they were just driving by, and saw the gun show sign and decided to make an outing of it. They seemed to be having a good time.

It was the second gun crowd that was much more interesting. Many of them had received their conceal carry license and then discovered after training they liked shooting. They were at the show to get another gun just for shooting. They rarely had a sport or hunting in mind, but were looking for ideas on what to do.

Still conceal carry had taught them something. When I asked them what was the most surprising thing they had discovered after getting their CCW, they almost always said the following. "For the first time in my life, I felt if I were attacked I was at least on level ground with my attacker."

I also asked them if they knew that gun control groups were saying that if they had a gun their attacker would merely take it away from them and use it on them. That was met with odd looks, laughter, and generally something along the lines of "Not this girl" or "maybe after I have shot every round of ammo I had"

You are not going to win against media. They think they know everything. On the other hand we are getting more and more everyday people who have first hand knowledge of firearms. Better still they are telling their friends the reality of gun ownership.

Competent gun owners are the best ambassadors. Their safe gun handling skills quiet the uninformed. It is the fact uninformed recognizes you as expert that weakens the media sway.It is a battle we can win as long as we stay engaged.

I don't really miss cable, LOL. I do get CNN on sling/firestick but I only watch it when I need to which ain't much! Most of my 'news' comes from my cell apps, CNN, FOX, etc and as much as I miss O'Reilley, Hannity and Judge Jeanie, I am beoming increasingly disheartened with FOX. No, I don't miss that crap at all. Its to the point that when I get alerts, I look at the tagline and 99.9% of the time I simply delete them without even reading them, the lying is that bad.

I watched our President's speech to Congress. AWESOME! I watched the democratic response and laughed. Then of course, to distract us from that totally awesome speech the dems started this business about AG Sessions & the Russians. The short of it is they're simply running a distraction. The lying in the media is simply astounding. The AG never did ANYTHING wrong, the contact with the Russian ambassador was when he was a Senator and pertained to THAT position, not the campaign which was the question asked. They don't mention that point now do they?

I work retail gun sales, small local neighborhood shop. I see more women come in to buy guns than ever before. More people buying their first gun. More people fed up with the dems, more people simply fed up with ALL of that crap. They want their freedoms, they want low taxes, they want their guns. That's pretty much it. To a person they applaud the President's position in immigration, the military and pretty much everything else.

Of course the dems are fighting tooth and nail to keep their nice little socialist dream alive....but they are failing. Sucks to be them!!!

IMHO, we are in a civil war. It hasn't turned to bloody yet but it has the potential.

The problem of fake news is, unfortunately, not limited to the United States. We are and have been experiencing it here in Canada for some time.

It is pretty sad that, knowing the true story, several people providing it to a "Reporter", watching them take notes, you read the item in the paper and wonder if it's the same story.

I experienced the same phenomenon a number of times at my place of work: Lazy reporting; careless reporting; outright fabrication, based on what some sensationalist or disgruntled person fed them as BS and which they did not check out for veracity.
