Let's just look at the numbers

So most of the threads are whether or not you can afford the $20. I've seen posts about shaming "guests" because they let their membership slide. A lot of name calling. A lot of.... well you know.

So I thought I would post the numbers and let you decide. I will only be looking at the new fees here and I am going by the information already previously given. Now we have 19,867 annual paying members with 7,568 life members.

Under the current rate of $45 SASS is receiving $894,015. Now remember this number, we will come back to it.

SASS wants $65 which will equate to $1,291,355. That is a difference of $397,340.

Most everybody knows about the $100 club affiliation fee. Now I didn't have a current source for those numbers so I broke out the March 2014 issue of the CC and started counting. There are 495 clubs in the U.S. and 100 International. Now for arguments sake we are going to look at max potential for income here just like any business would. At that rate they would collect $49,500 from the U.S. clubs and $10,000 from the International clubs.

Now I'm not sure if anyone knows that SASS will collect $5 per shooter for a State match and $10 for a Regional match. Now don't fool yourself, the clubs will pass that on so you will be paying for that.

So let's say everyone goes to one State match and one Regional match.

19,867x$5= $99,335

X$10= $198,670

7,568x$5= $37,840

X$10= $75,680

So if everything goes in SASS's favor and they are able to maximize their profits, they stand to gain $868,365 in a single year. Now compare that number to the one at the top that I told you about.

That is almost 100% increase in funds. More than likely they will receive 60-75% of that projection.

So what's your point?

Sorry about that I thought I put that in.

But, to keep the burden off the clubs and to help SASS maximize their earnings projections ALL, yearly and life, would need to give $31.65. That's one way to look at it.

The other way to look at it is where is all this money going?

Do you have access to the books? You really have know idea what the overhead is? Employees, benefits, healthcare, light bills, Etc, Etc..

In the real world things are seldom what they seem.

I for one don't fault any company or organization for turning a profit!

IMHO, it's none of our business what SASS does with the money. Why do people begrudge them making money on their investment?

You forgot to mention insurance, taxes, social security, and unemployment insurance for all the employees. Plus if say 75% renew which will be looking on the positive side and of those 10% upgrade to life so they don't have to worry about increases in the future. Why don't all that can afford it upgrade and then you will not have to worry about it anymore, and then you got the life members who will upgrade to the next level.

All I did was show what they need and broke it down to what every member would need to give/pay. Apparently this has crossed the line with some people. So let's just let the cards fall where they may and turn a blind eye and hope everything works out for the best. In the long run clubs will drop affiliation and people will leave but that part is inevitable. We are all getting older and unless expenses are addressed SASS will have to keep raising the fees. I would hope that this rise in fees would only be temporary but if people accept this one then they will undoubtedly accept the next one.

I hope that they continue to make a reasonable profit for without a profit SASS will cease to exist, after all who wants to run a business that doesn't make a profit.

They will figure it out and SASS will emerge a leaner stronger entity.
