Smuteye John SASS#24774
Alabama also has the longest still active constitution in the world. It's been around since 1901 and has over 800 amendments. The high number of amendments is because only 7 of the 60 counties in the state have any sort of home rule. Most of the amendments deal with a strictly local matter in one of those other 60 counties.
