Website says available May 2011. Based on responses I've seen around the internet they will likely be in high demand.

Ruger was supposed to have a load already made up to go out immediately.

I ain't had time to check with no distributors yet. We been outta town all week since our son (Winchester Wade) got married (to Amy Oakley). I will make calls & place orders tomorrow.

I want one, and don't yet own a 1911. Unfortunately wanting and having the funds to pay for are two different things to me right now.

It's gonna make a big splash in the market.

I've been told that they are shipping right now....have not seen one yet. It does look like a keeper though. Long live Cowboys...SAA...and 1911's. Yoos-ta-be-kid

According to a source in the Ruger Prescott facility, they intend to start shipping SR1911's next Monday, May 2.

I just spoke to Davidsons (right at Prescott, too). None are there yet and they said they don't know when they will see any. So far all will be stainless, though. No blued ones yet.

I'm already looking into what I've got to change out to make them fit Wild Bunch regs. The rear sight, hammer and grip safety for sure.

Greg, Do you need to change those parts out even for "Modern"?

The 1911's that Ruger has come out with IS LEGAL in 'Modern' category of WB!

Actully the only time we ever had a WB match, we'd never heard of Modern WB yet. It was only WB back then.

So I reckon I could leave all them "goodies" on board and still shoot Modern category.

Still......

Ruger is privy about our sport - maybe, just maybe they come out with a SR1911A1 (plain Jane version ;) ) for the 'traditional' category.

Howdy,

Ya know Id really like to think ruger could make a 1911, without the recall phase.

Somehow I wouldnt bet a penny either way.

What say yall?

Recall or no?
