I'm still fairly new so forgive my ignorance....

Being that everyone I have met who shoots WB ALSO shoots CAS, why is there a need for separate forum websites? I had a topic ended here and told to go there and those forums are not very active. I would think if I have a general question about a gun I would get better input here than a forum that has "recent" topics months old.

If we can have a costume forum here, why not a WB forum and just combine the trade forums etc. ?

Post unlocked & relocated to the Saloon.

SASS Wire is a forum for the Membership of SASS and guests interested in SASS Cowboy Action Shooting

The SASS Wire Saloon is the Social Gathering Spot to discuss topics not directly related to shooting in SASS Cowboy Action Shooting.

This could be an interesting thread.  As you noted you are new so you do not know the history of WB.  Short answer as far as the forums is concerned is WB has chosen to try and separate itself from CAS shooters as much as possible.  They even disagree with each other.  Last year some WB rule changes caused a lot of internal friction.

Interesting...I wonder how many people who shoot WB and do not shot CAS. I thought of it as one sport with many divisions. I love shooting so I want to shoot all of it. Next for me will be to dip my toe in cap and ball.

Then check out mounted shooting for the trifecta effect.

Percussion revolvers (NOT long guns) are legal in all SASS CAS categories (with some restrictions regarding sights and caliber).

There are also separate categories that require c&b revolvers.

REF: CAS SHOOTER'S HANDBOOK pp.5-10

CAS is a game with many Categories...Wild Bunch is not one of them.

They have their game...therefore they have their own forum since the vast majority of CAS do not shoot WB.

Maybe so, but I bet you 100% of WB shooters also shoot CAS.  It's all SASS.

I'm done with this topic. not worth arguing over. I like both styles of shooting. Starting to feel like a Ford/Chevy thing and not a real conversation.

The Single Action Shooting Society is the umbrella organization with several disciplines.  You will find different rulebooks (Handbooks) for Cowboy Action Shooting, Wild Bunch Action Shooting, and Cowboy Clays.

There are separate Forums for CAS and WBAS because the rules in many cases are different.  The handguns are different, the round counts are different, the pistol load parameters are different.

If you post a question on the Wire Bunch Forum, it will be answered.  There are a lot of experienced, helpful shooters there.  Sign up!  There is a lot of helpful information already posted there.

I have often thought that wild bunch should be here.   I believe it would help attendance.

If anyone not interest, just skip it.  Doesn't make sense to me with such a very small audience

on both forums.

I think you meant all CAS catagories.  SASS is both WBAS and CAS.  And I don't think there's any authority for shooting a cap and ball revolver in Wild Bunch.  If the CAS Shooter's Handbook says that, it's wrong and needs to be changed because that statement is simply not correct.

Back on topic, WBAS may be the sport that saves SASS if it gets the attention it deserves.

Let's take this apart.

The source of the quotation is the CAS Handbook. Therefore referencing "SASS" is in the context of CAS. CAS is not affiliated with Wild Bunch.

So I would suggest that your statement "...it's wrong and needs to be changed..." is incorrect.

Also, there is zero evidence that I'm aware of that would indicate that Wild Bunch is going to "Save" SASS. The assumption that SASS needs to be "saved" is also a bit presumptive of you. Oh, and the irony is that many of the WB old school shooters vehemently protested the modifications to the WB rules that were put in place to spur growth in the game...so...attention given and then immediately rejected.

Post "edited for clarification". <_<
I figured that anyone familiar with the subject would understand that the reference was to CAS given the link to the CAS SHB.
...and it WAS "on topic" since the OP mentioned  "
cap and ball" (as quoted).
