Are There No Workhouses?

I guess when they said "it's after 5 somewhere", they were referring to AM as compared to PM today. Myself, I'm not real into a beer for breakfast, especially with pudding!

I'm rarely a day drinker, but you have to remember those were the days of bad water.  Even children drank what was called small beer.

The hasty pudding was grains or flour boiled in milk or water with some salt.   Or mixed as a batter and boiled in a pudding cloth until it was cooked through, like a very dense dumpling.

I could never do beer in the morning. Maybe 2 sips and that’s it. My wife and I used to enjoy Champagne brunches years ago.

In the Navy, on Liberty, I would have a glass of wine and even a shot of the hair of the hog to get through a hangover.
On a lighter note:
There was nothing like sitting at an outdoor cafe in Italy or Spain and having a glass of wine or Sangria with breakfast.

Edit: I haven’t had a drink in 10 years. 10 years sober. :D;)

Long ago when I was in police work, most of 3rd shift would go to the bowling alley right from work.  About once a month if I remember correctly decades on.  There were guys drinking hard liquor in the morning - best I could do was a Shandy or Beer and tomato juice.

Not having a beer with breakfast on Sunday morning kind of implies that you quit drinking sometime after the Saturday night party! Heresy! I can recall a few situations where beer WAS breakfast!  :P  :D  :)

Ahhh the good old college days!

I’ve hated beer since my first taste a six years old!!  It’s one of those things that folks always said ya’ gotta develop a taste for it.  If I’ve got to develop a taste for it, that means it doesn’t taste good!!

Seemed like a waste of time to me!  I liked Bourbon and vodka, so those were my beverages of choice!

BESIDES!!  I’d try drinking beer for the buzz and wind up bloated and having to go to the bathroom long before the buzz I never got arrived.

An eye opener of vodka was always my go to after an all nighter!
