That’s how the Army taught us to shoot the 1911 in the sixties. Weak hand in pocket or on hip. Double handed stuff came in later. In the seventies at the police academy it was two hand hold at any distance over 1 1/2yards

And soon... no hearing.

Could be wrong but I am pretty sure that is an air gun.  Besides in other angles of him shooting he is wearing standard ear plugs which I am sure is more than sufficient to protect him from whatever noise is produced by these handguns.

Good thought.
I have a Feinwerkbau Model 65 pellet gun.
Incredibly accurate, recoilless and noiseless.

Dikec Yusuf, who only recently took up shooting after a particularly heated argument with his ex-wife, credits his success to his newfound passion for seeing his kids and a relentless drive to prove his ex wrong. "I never thought I'd be here," Yusuf said, shrugging nonchalantly. "I was just aiming for a weekend with the kids."

The 52-year-old, who works as a mechanic in a small garage in Istanbul, first picked up a gun during a particularly frustrating divorce mediation.

His unorthodox approach – no specialty gear, no training regimen, and a wardrobe consisting of his everyday jeans and a T-shirt – has baffled professional shooters. "He just shows up, shoots a near perfect round, and then asks if there's a smoking area nearby."

After winning silver, Yusuf stood emotionless on the Olympic podium and declared, "Sharon, if you're watching this, I want my dog back."

While cutesier SDJ, not quite.  Dikec Yusuf is on his FIFTH Olympics.  Highly decorated competitive shooter at home.

Sounds like a great guy to go shooting with.

I have been shooting Rimfire Benchrest Matches.
Last weekend every guy there, besides myself, had really nice and really expensive guns, rests and accessories.
One gent came over and was checking out my CZ 457 Stainless and my cheap scope.
He said “You have the right idea. I hope you never get the equipment race bug. You did pretty well in this match and the last one I saw you at here. How long have you been shooting Rimfire Benchrest?”

I said “This match and thee last one you saw me at.”

He grinned and said “Keep it up. Don’t let these guys get you into the equipment race.”

The average non-factory guns in these matches cost $3K and up.

I like to keep things simple.

I hate guys like that.  I can't stick a pistol's muzzle in a bucket of water and make a splash.

I'm high mediocre with a rifle and better than most with a shotgun.
