Yul Lose
I’ve tried a few different things like forks and long thin needle nose pliers to get the shoe onto the spring and strut without sending the shoe into never never land never to be found again. I had this conduit clamp laying around and I cut a slot into it with the Dremel tool and it works really slick. It gives you a little more to hang onto than a fork and you can get quite a bit of leverage with it too. Presidio
Okay, I'm a dummy. Just what are you using this on?

Eyesa Horg
Putting the strut in a vise and using a fork has worked well for me. Just wish I could get the dang thing out without removing the whole grip frame! Ours have the dang locks and not enough room to remove!

Yul Lose
I use rare earth magnets in some of my woodworking projects and I decided to see if one of the magnets could be used to position and hold the shoe in place. I tried it out this morning and it really works well. The magnets are available on Amazon and Lee Valley Tools and other places.
