Koalas do not exist. It's a trick the Aussies play on tourists.

You don't believe me? Here is proof. An Aussie pygmy dressed in his koala suit, sipping his evening tea. He has to do it this way because it's too difficult to drink from a mug while wearing the head.

30 miles a gallon?? I assume y'all had the imperial gallon, which was 25% bigger than ours, but still. Were your miles shorter?

I had a Fairlane, which is a Falcon with a better trim job. 170 6 cylinder, 1 barrel, three on the tree. I got 16 miles a gallon. Using an imperial gallon, that would have gotten me 20.

Two door, 4 door, I think there was even a station wagon, and it was the basis of the Ranchero, too.

Yes there was. And the Mercury version - the Comet - was also available all three ways.

Also had a 64 Falcon convertible. Unfortunately, both were six cyl. The 61 was 3 on the tree, the 64 was auto and in those days you could just go to a junk yard for parts. So converted it to a 3 spd. floor shift standard.

Yes, your gallon is only 3.8 litres whereas ours is 4.5 litres.

Our miles are about the same as yours, about 1600 metres.

To get 30mpg I think they fitted a very heavy return spring to the accelerator and very carefully drove down a 30 mile hill with a very strong tail wind ......... (in my notso humble opinion-_-)
