Painted Mohawk SASS 77785
Howdy One of the local clubs I go to for this months shoot allowed the shooter with a lever action shotgun to load up for the number of targets applicable to the stage but a miss was a miss, about 6 shooters had levers..would be good with the '97 but unfortunately our stupid gun laws here don't allow us to use them !! Was good fun & liked by those who participated.
Creeker, SASS #43022
I've attended a few clubs that utilize the direction that repeating shotguns may load the round count into the shotgun after the beep - on the clock. I have never seen it run faster than (or even close to) current single (97)/ double loading (87) or SxS loading methods.

Ours were loaded before the buzzer & yes even then the doubles were superior on the day.

Howdy Kit..I used the SXS, 6 out of the 30 shooters used the lever 1887 Norinco's or Chiappa.....not a lot use them in Australia, maybe half dozen but a lot own them & drag them out for the occassional fun. IMHO 87's done by Lassiter work a treat !

Pumping the shells through the gun is more fun (assuming you could stoke after the beep), but not faster.
Bullett Sass 19707
We call it kill them all day and you can use a SXS, 97, 87 or model 12. We load as many as there are targets. However if you miss no make up. Usually I use a double but have a 97 and model 12 for these occasions. Bullett 19707
Totes Magoats
One of the best parts of Wild Bunch, unloading that '97 poked full of shells. Sure if fun to run it wide open after it's fully loaded. Totes

If you have a 87 shooter that is shooting 4.5 seconds for 4 rounds and going to the belt twice...………..how can that be? You have to run the lever the same amount of times either way and you don't have the 1.5 to 2 sec to go to the belt for the other two shells. I don't know how... but one must remember that not everyone is a record holder in either platform. IMO, developed over 35 years of participating in this game, a good double shooter can keep up a good '97 shooter when both guns are loaded on the clock, mainly because of the time it takes to load the repeater. You also have to remember, that the reason folks use the shuck one, load one, technique on the '97 is because it's far faster than loading the 2nd shot thru the magazine. It takes well-tuned guns for both platforms to be run smoothly, and well-practiced shooters to capitalize on the gun's capability. The one time I've run against a shooter using a "modern" pump gun, (Remington 870 riot gun which held 8 rounds), I beat him thru 16 rounds. As this was a "head-to-head" run, I finished while he was just starting his 2nd magazine of 8 rounds. That was in '93 or '94, during a cowboy vs. cop event at our club using reactive targets... a mixture of our cowboy shotgun targets and std. 3-gun shotgun poppers.
