Great movie!!! Although the more I read about Tombstone, Earp history it is pretty much historically inaccurate. There's also some prominent characters that were left out! James Earp, Luke Short, Bat Masterson and others. The movie is still really entertaining though!

"Inventing Wyatt Earp, His Life and Many Legends" by Allen Barra is probably the best and most accurate book about Wyatt. The author acknowledges however, that much cannot be corroborated because Wyatt wouldn't confirm or talk about many of the published accounts, rumors and heresay. Many times when asked about something, Wyatt would dodge the questions.

 

All Bat Masterson would ever say was, "You'll have to ask Wyatt." Josie told her version of their story, but it is generally considered biased and full of "spin". She would never discuss Tombstone.

 

I highly recommend Barra's book. It's a great read.
