Alpo
If someone was driving past you, from right to left, in a standard automobile, and you HAD TO stop him, and you had a 12 gauge loaded with buckshot - would you shoot for the driver's window trying to hit him, or one of the tires to cause a blowout? NCIS episode. Kate shot for the driver, and I thought she shoulda tried for a tire.
Charlie Whiskers
If you hit him you wouldn't have to chase him very far because he'd probably hit a curb and the car would go airborne, spiral a few times while flying through the air then explode on impact with the ground. If you shot the tire then you'd have to chase him with only one flat tire to slow him down a little.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
If you hit the tire, the car can go for a while before the tire goes flat, unless you put a hole in the rim. The rubber does not make a good caliber sized hole. (Did that experiment, with a stationary car)
Ramblin Gambler
I remember trying to put an arrow through the tire of an abandoned car. Only tried once cause I didn't care for the way the arrow came flying back at me.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
If a bullet comes back at you, you need more powder.
Knot Hardly Dunn
Removing the link between the steering wheel and the accelerator pedal will cause a vehicle to stop much sooner than a flat tire. Having said that it will not be a controlled decelartaon and you could be responsible for the out come of that.

Colorado Coffinmaker
You cannot stop a car with a handgun, a rifle, nor a shotgun. Ain't gonna happen. Always, always, shoot the driver. Coffinmaker
Forty Rod SASS 3935
If you shoot a tire there is no reason to think that the perp couldn't return fire. If you kill him it's a pretty sure thing that he couldn't. Be aware of surroundings and innocent people in the area and when the time is right, shoot the driver. Tom Bullweed
Windows down : driver Windows up : tire Auto glass has a nasty habit of deflecting non-pointy bullets. Even if a bullet penetrates the glass, it will likely lose so much velocity that it is ineffective.

Just like the car flying through the air when I hits just about anything.
Sparky Nelson
You cannot stop a car with a handgun, a rifle, nor a shotgun. Well, maybe with a Barrett if you can hit the engine.
