Got MY new '97 today: really nice (update on Post 13)

Recommended Posts

I got my NEW IAC '97 this afternoon.

It is really smooth and I am well pleased.

Thanks to Johnny Meadows and Coyote Cap. It appears to be competition ready, right out of the box.

It really does feel like it has been well smoothed and tuned by a pro.

I ran a few dummy empties thru it and ejection is superb.

Watch Out Korupt Karl.....I'm comin after you now!

:)

Howdy RED.

sending you a PM.

GCK: when I read your initial question, I quickly said to myself..."there's not enough of them".

You are correct. With only 450, they will go fast.

I got mine coming from Outlaw Gambler.

Shameless plug: click here for his website

I WILL test it out at Ides of March.

Anyone at the Ides that wants to try it may do so for free, except for Wyatt. Too many questions.

If you like it you must order from Outlaw Gambler. (as per my contract...just kidding)

I've got serial # 0059 coming, Cap is having to let Johnny Meadows ship the California bound 97's due to our wonderful gun laws.

I figure with both Cap and Johnny laying hands on my 97 it should be extra good.

I'm trying to be patient but with our waiting period on top of everything else it's going to be awhile before I get to try it out.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

I've had time to run a few more empty dummy rounds thru my new 97.

For those wondering.....YES, it slam fires great.

It kicks empties out and throws them appox 6' away, quickly.

I see no reason why SPLITS can't be in the low .4 range with an occasional sub .4 split thrown in when the cameras are rolling.

I will probably get my stock cut to size for me, barrel cut to approx 19" and get rid of the front bead. I don't like beads on my competition SG's, although a couple of them have it.

Hey Waimea

How long is the barrel?

What's the length of pull?

Does it have a recoil pad?

Are the screws metric?

Does it come with chokes?

What kind of wood does it have?

Does it have the mag tube release buttons?

Is it a takedown?

Does it say Chinchester 97 on the side?

........and I was gonna let you see my autographed picture of Widder, but then you might want to touch it

All your questions were answered in earlier threads including photos. No such thing as a Chinchester. Some idiot on the SASS wire made up that name.

I knew you'd be the first in line to want to touch it.

And you can at the Ides. I'll have it available for inspection at the Speed Pistol Side Match.

If you want you can even take it over to the SG speed match and try it, but not before I do.

I don't know the answers to any of your questions, nor do I care.

All I care about is that it eats what I feed it and ejects an empty far enough to hit my spotters in their one good eye.

That's one between them ... and they share it.

I hope everyone knows we're kidding, or at least I am.

I frequently spot and if I find myself disagreeing with the other two very much I put myself on other duties 'cause everybody has a bad day.

Anyhow, this thread took a left turn at Albuqerque and it's partially my fault sooooo

HEY WIDDER, how's that new shotgun of yours!

Can't wait til I get mine.

Encouragement is often some of the BEST 'intangible' that a friend can give another to help them achieve goals.

I must admit that ole KK supplied me with a heep of Encouragement and other friendly gestures while I was learning about the 97. We talked alot over the phone about different techniques, time variances, goals, etc...

Well, now that the secret has been told, I guess I can mention one more thing........

KK: SEND MORE MONEY FOR MORE SG SHELLS!

:) :) :)
