Pico PIstolero
Glad there's a SASS baseball faction!! I'm still enjoying watching the Dodgers. Even though they've had a so-so season, Kemp and Kershaw having fantastic seasons, and all year long, two utility guys: Miles and Carrol have been coming through in place of some injured 'starters'. Not ready for it to end. I hope the Red Sox get a jolt of something and make it to the playoffs (I think they will) and do better than I fear (can you tell I'm a life long Sox fan?). My heart is pulling for the Sox, my mind is pulling for the Phillies, but my fears see nothing but Yankees. -Pico blog.picopistolero.com
Doc Windshadow
Yup the Red Sox but almost any team that is still playing on or near their original turf (except the Yankees of course) some how a big chunk of the heart of baseball left when the Dodgers left Brooklyn
Rye Miles #13621
I'm torn between the Tigers and the Diamondbacks. Arizona is my favorite place in the good ol' USA but the Tigers are a really good team. We'll see..........................The Tribe won 2 last night from Minnesota, looks like they may have 2nd place locked up. Jim Thome was honored the other night at Progressive Field for his 600 + homers, without steroids (I think) Rye
Capt. James H. Callahan
The Rangers took a 1 game lead over the tigers for home field advantage yestiddy. Some fan in Arlington made up a really cool flag. The "Come and Take It" flag was homemade at the Battle of Gonzales, the first battle of the Texas Revolution. The Mexican government had given the settlers a small cannon to protect from Indians. When hostilities broke out they wanted it back. This commercial has a quick shot of the flag. Video is poor, but it's the best I could find. I may have to buy a couple of flags and make my own, I love it! Watch closely at 17 seconds, it doesn't last long. Bama Red
Well, the Braves are doing their damndest to give away the lock they had on the wild card slot. They had a seven game lead that is now down to one game over St. Louis. If they do manage to make the playoffs, I don't see much of a future for them. Rye Miles #13621
Bama, I think the Braves are going to the playoffs but yer right they may not be strong enough to last through. Capt. Callahan, the Rangers are tough and if I was to bet actual money I just might put a few bucks on them. I see 'em going to the WS. I'm still gonna root for the Tigers or Diamondbacks though. Let the playoffs begin, hurry up already!
Capt. James H. Callahan
Well, the Indians sure didn't help our cause tonight. Tigers beat 'em 14-0 Texas is leading the Angels 3-2 top 8. I see the Rays caught the Red Sox in the wild card race. Be interesting to see how that shakes out. The Angels are on a ventilator and a morphine drip. They lose tonite they're out of it. Rangers just scored again, now 4-2. JHC

Okay Indians lost 9-6 to the Tigers. One more game and if they win they have a .500 pct. and are in 2nd place or tied with Chicago. what a year.....they were in first place over half the year and then they tanked. Hey....WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR! Go Diamondbacks!!!
Capt. James H. Callahan
Wow! What a crazy night in baseball! My Rangers pulled it out in the 9th with a Napoli homer after the Tigers had won. Extra inning games, rain delays, etc. The Rays beat the DamnYankees to win the wild card after the Red Sox lost again (I was kinda wanting to play them). Looks like we'll be playing the Rays at home to start off. I'd rather play the Rays at home than the Yankees in New York, so I guess it's as well as can be expected. Hope we can keep up skeer through the playoffs! GO RANGERS! JHC
Cypress Sun
The Rays make the playoffs after being down 7-0 to the Yanks by a HUGE comeback and a walkoff homer in the 12th. It wouldn't have mattered if Boston won or not. Gotta go to the Rangers now for 2 games and then back to the Trop. Maybe we'll see Matt Moore pitch in the playoffs. I would prefer the Rays all the way, but if they don't make it..........anyone but the Yanks. GO RAYS
Four-Eyed Buck,SASS #14795
The Indians are going on vacation now. Wait'll next year should be their motto. They really tanked against the Tigers this time

Chantry
The old Red Sox's are back, you know the team that chokes during important games. Oops.
Chickahominy Charlie
I feel kinda sorry for the Red Sox, but they did it to themselves. Their September record was horrible......it began LONG before last night's game. That said, I wouldn't want to be playing the Rays right now. They're riding a hot hand and have exceptional starting pitching (Price's performance last night excepting....). The Rangers will have their hands full, but they have shown that they can score (and club you to death at times), so that should be an interesting series. However, I'm now a Tigers fan. .....and if they don't beat the Yankees, I'll be either a Ranger or Rays fan next week. Kinda funny on the other side (NL), too. Cardinals made quite a run to catch the Braves, but again, the Braves did it to themselves. You still have got to like the Phillies with that rotation. Bring on the Playoffs! Capt. James H. Callahan
Been watching ESPN last night and this morning, the Rangers have barely gotten a mention. Don't know how many times they've showed the Cards beating the snot out of the Astros (my, what a shock) . No mention of us having to sweep the last six games to edge out the Tigers for home field, not one replay of Napoli's 9th inning wrap around the foul pole homer. Oh well, guess we'll have a beer with the D'backs. I notice they get no press either. Hopefully the Rays will have a let down after that game last night. That WAS great! That had to bruise the Yankees' ego a bit. Hope the Tigers bruise it some more! JHC
J-BAR #18287
The missus and I had a date last night, went to see "Moneyball". I liked it. Not a comedy, more a character study of Billy Beane. Funny moments to be sure, but a really well done story about how Beane changed the sport. For those who don't care for Brad Pitt, you might change your mind when you see him in this role. ...and I'm going to be watching those lucky Cardinals tonite!! Well, not tonite, I guess. Even if they were playing our neighborhood's power is out.
Cypress Sun
Matt Moore is pitching against the Rangers in just a few short hours (5:37 PM EST). This will be his 2nd start in MLB, his 1st start was spectacular. The opposing pitcher will be C.J. Wilson, no slouch either. May the Ray's luck continue! Cypress Sun
WOW, the Rays jumped on 'em pretty good. 9-0 Rays. Moore was pretty damn good, I like this kid alot. Kelly Shoppach © was the hero today...........hasn't been worth a darn all year. Side note; Nolan Ryan, Josh Hamilton and the Texas Rangers are a class act. Yup, they took us to the woodshed yestiddy. Hopefully today will be better. Couldn't get a whole lot worse. I was at work having about the same kind of day as my Rangers so didn't get to see much of it. Saw all I wanted to. Thanks for the kind words. For those who may not know, Ryan (or the team, whatever) gave AL Championship rings to about everybody but the ball girls (they may have gotten 'em too for all I know) Every player who was on the roster at any time last year, equipment handlers, you name it. Players who were traded and all got a ring, many at pre-game ceremonies. FWIW I think he's a class act too! GO RANGERS! JHC
