Looking For Barrel For 1887

Recommended Posts

I have been wanting to put a longer barrel on my IAC Norinco 1887 shotgun. Anyone know if there are longer hunting style barrels for these shotguns?

I spoke to Cimarron and they are not bringing there longer barreled 1887 shotguns out till at least 2026 if at all.

Would love to add one to one of the IAC 87s that I have.

Winchester to Winchester works as threads are American Standard. However, Winchester to and from any Chinese made shotgun will not work as Chinese guns are Metric threads.

Well I was hopeful in getting a new longer barrel but I am not sure anything is available after reading the comments. I guess I should just look for one of the Chiappa made 87s with the longer barrels. :D

I just got a email from buds yesterday, they had both bbl lengths in stock. It’s the first time I’ve seen new Chiappa 87s for sale since the start of the plandemic

Other barrels can be threaded and chamfered to fit it. Do you have any good gunsmiths near you?

I have a decent gunsmith about 30 min away.

A Steven’s M94 or H&R single shot barrel from Gun parts corp could easily be fitted to an 1887. You could potentially find one with screw in chokes. I’ve used them to make AR shotgun barrels, at least until my shotgun barrel blanks are available.

Thanks for the info. I'll talk to my local smith and see what he says.

It always seems to be .

We have to always desire the unacceptable gun lol

I have been trying to get or build a Henry 1860 in 44 Special for years and years now .

Several Pards on the wire have one or has had one or knew a now retired Smith who would do it .

But every time I take two step towards one .

I get knocked back three .

I found one for sale in Australia.

But it was going to cost 4x the cost of the gun to get it here

( if it don't get confiscated through customs )

But we keep dreaming lol

Did you see this post? Everything you need sans the gunsmith to build a Henry 1860 in 44 special.

Unfortunately, this ^ is true.

Barrel work needs a lathe, the barrel shoulder would need cut to index properly at the very least anyway, and in the case of the 87, a mill as well to cut extractor clearance.  Since that is gunsmith territory for most folks, having your gunsmith source and thread a blank to work, isn't much extra work.  Most people get a quote and decide they can live with what they have.LOL
