And even if you do click on it it might not let you look. So the pilot calls the tower and tells the tower that his co-pilot just jumped out of the plane. This apparently messed with the thinking process of the air traffic controller. Very interesting little bit of audio.
Cypress Sun Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 I really don't see what's funny about this.
Roy Goode - SASS 114620 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 That pilot is VERY calm and collected. I remember reading about this on the news - what a crazy thing to do...

sassnetguy50 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 as reading about this last night. https://www.wral.com/story/ntsb-report-pilot-s-decision-to-leave-his-seat-led-to-death-in-fall-from-plane/21197217/
Dubious Don #56333 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Well. Isn't he Mr Cool. Actually, he acted correctly. Probably more to the story. The ATC has the ability to replay the flight with radio audio which will give them a pretty good starting point to do a recovery search. Apparently, this particular incident wasn't covered in radar flight controller school .....
Pat Riot Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Weird! Obviously the Copilot had some issues. He was also selfish and self absorbed and wanted others to be affected in his plot to kill himself. I feel for the people involved that they have to deal with this. I have no sympathy for the Copilot. He’s a douche and the world is probably better off with him out of it. Just calling it like I see it.
Ozark Huckleberry Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 The flight had diverted and although it's not mentioned, had likely declared an emergency at the larger airport. So ATC is juggling other air traffic to bring this guy in, dealing with stacking and/or rerouting other flights, coordinating emergency services for something that will be less of a landing and more of a (hopefully) controlled crash, probably mentally juggling options for dealing with a fouled runway, and then he gets, "My copilot just jumped out of the plane." ATC had a bunch of living people he needed to keep safe. He didn't need to be diverting his attention to deal with one dead one.
