Before I go out and buy a piece of copper pipe, has anyone heard of this method, and if so, does it work?

I don't know. I don't have a pool. But --- it says a 3-inch piece of pipe.

One would assume it specifies a 3 inch because it needs x amount of copper in the water. So is that a 3-inch piece of 3/8 tubing, or half inch tubing? 3/4 inch, maybe? 1 inch?

At what point does it quit being tubing and become pipe?

But if you need x amount of copper, then it seems like the instructions would say something like "3-inch piece of inch and a half copper pipe".

Thanks for the references.

I did the research online; however, as we all know you cannot trust the Internet on all issues.

Therefore, the reason I was inquiring as to whether one of the Pards had an in-ground pool and if they tried this method, whether it saved them from having to constantly clean algae.

There is a cure. Copper plate your entire pool. Simple.

From my daughter who has a pool:

Yes….BUT copper can also contribute to greening of hair. So we avoid adding products with copper. At least that was the advice of the pool forum I follow!

I saw that post title and immediately thought, "As seen in J.C. Whitney"

Like what Steve had to say....

"May as well just put the pennies right into the skimmer themselves and cut out the middleman altogether!"
