T.K.
Heck ya! .45 Colt makes a great "Brush buster"! Ruger made a fortune on a .44 mag carbine for deer hunting! A 4 power scope would work great! This combo would work best in brushy or scrub oak hill country.

Alpo
Ol' Dr Dabbs there made one of my favorite stupid statements. "63-year-old Native American" - no she wasn't. Canada. She was First Nations. Not Native American. Stupid politically correct BS. Jay Silverheels. Chief Dan George. And Bella twin. None of them were Native American, because none of them were American. All three of them were Canadian. Hashknife Cowboy
I have taken mule deer with a .44 mag. (240 gr SP), 41 mag. (210 gr flat point) and one with a .357 mag. (158 gr SP). All pistol shots at less than 50 yards. I have not tried the .45 Colt yet, perhaps once I come up with a load for my Marlin 1894. You got me thinking......and it will be all about bullet placement. Perhaps this is the way to go.

Trailrider #896
I stand by my story of the woman chased up a food platform who shot into the darkness because the bear was shaking the platform. The story was in Field & Stream or somesuch magazine years ago! Pure luck on her part. BTW, bullet placement on any mammal is vital. Karamojo Bell used to hunt African elephant with a 7 x 57. But I still go with Robert Ruark..."Use enough gun!"
Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129
About 60 years ago was a old Man of the Dennie Tribe that liked to show of his collection of very Large Polar bear skulls, they all had a .22 cal hole in the weakest part of the skull. He told me how he collected the 13 Skulls he showed me, he would lie on the ice next to a hole encased in a seal skin and make sounds like a seal in distress, when the bear got real close and lowered it's head to attack... He would dispatch it with a single shot Cooey .22 with cutdown barrel ... He only kept the big skulls, he claimed to have killed over 50 in this manner... He liked them to be about 12 feet away when he shot them, he used Solids with a light copper plating made by CCL ... This man was from The North West Territories of Canada... Buckshot Dobbs
Ok so I ordered a piece of picatinny from Skinner that will let me add an optic to her Rossi 92, so how hard is drifting out the old buckhorn sight? Just left to right to always? BD
