Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Solar storms going on right now. The EM pulses excite our Ionosphere. I imagine Alaska, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories are getting a good show.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 There’s tons of great pictures on the internet from this area in Northeast Ohio on Lake Erie. I had planed on going out to see them but fell asleep!
Subdeacon Joe Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Too much light pollution in our area to tell. I got up a couple of times to look, and we didn't feel like driving 45 minutes to get to someplace high and dark.
Cypress Sun Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 I figured that they wouldn't be visible in Florida but judging from various reports/pictures I guess that wasn't correct. I'll have to go out and look tonight although ambient city light may be a problem, ya never know. Never have seen them before.
Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Slept through 'em myself. Oh well ... I'll follow me dear Pappy's example. He said he missed the eclipse but "I'll catch it on the reruns!"
PowderRiverCowboy Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 They should be out again tonight at least up here .

Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103 Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Heavy overcast 9 pm Saturday on the soggy south shore of Lake Erie. Rat feathers. Cloudy as a drunkard's explanation!
Pat Riot Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Cloudy here too. My iPhone brightened the image. I tried to match it with reality, but clouds are clouds regardless of brightness or darkness.
