Tornadoes in the midwest

Recommended Posts

My nephew is a firefighter in Omaha.  He's busy tonight after tornadoes hit the northwest part of the city, and then moved into Iowa.

Prayers Up for everyone in that area. :(
Tornadoes are a devastating weather phenomenon.
Just this past Wednesday we watched the following show.

Curtis LaForche (Michael Shannon) lives in a small Ohio town with his loving wife (Jessica Chastain) and hearing-impaired daughter (Tova Stewart). Though money is tight, he and his family are very happy. But then, Curtis begins having terrifying dreams about an apocalypse that threatens them all. Rather than confiding in Samantha, he begins building a storm shelter in the backyard, and his strange behavior causes tension in their marriage and the surrounding community.

Been there done that in 1966 St. Louis when a tornado leveled much of our subdivision and a number of others in its path. We were spared, others not so much. Lots of classmates missing from school for several days. I’ll never forget the sound as it passed overhead.

Weird storms, tornadoes are. They’ll flatten one house, but leave the one next door untouched.

Just a normal spring evening in the midlands, tracking tornadoes on local tv, listening to rain and warning sirens going off...

I suspect they have always happened;  we're just getting better at spotting them!

no , not really , they happened all the time in other places we just don't hear as the coverage is focused , ive lived here long enough to have survived many and witnessed many , there is no increase - its just when they hit a major metro and kill people that they get coverage , back in the day ...........the reporter had to actually go out and cover it , now they just repeat the major news stories as they come in ,
