I wonder what the effects would be?

Of bathing a wound with coffee.

Any novel - somebody gets wounded and he's found by the hero and the hero always heats up water to bathe the wound.

So there I am out in the wilderness and you come stumbling up to my camp, wounded. I don't haveHAPPEN to have a pot of hot water just sitting there steaming at the edge of my fire. I do, however, have a pot of coffee sitting there steaming at the edge of my fire.

Would cleaning the wound with a clean rag dipped in coffee be a bad thing?

It would keep the wound from getting sleepy!;) And it should probably get some rest.

Why wouldn't you have a pot of water simmering?   Don't you plan on washing the dishes?

But let's back up a bit and ask just why in situations like that someone always wants boiled water....you boil it to try to sterilize it, and maybe also the dressings and bandages.

It should work.  As long as you haven't sugared it (which would rule out Arbuckles).

Coffee is a mild vasoconstrictor, so it might help control bleeding.

Straight sugar works also.  Honey with a bit of clove, most herb poultices were chewed and applied.

Boiled coffee beats rubbing dirt on it

Honey was an ancient battlefield wound treatment.   Sugar is still used in a lot of undeveloped countries in place of antibiotics for treatments of wounds or when antibiotics are not effective.

I don't know about extra strong, but I bet you if you didn't let it cool off, when you pumped it in it'd bring him out of shock.
