No Horse Hair, SASS #77464
Project gun in the works. I want to dovetail the barrel and replace sight with wider blade. I've seen pics of a brass dovetailed sight w/wide brass blade on some ol' timey six shooters. Can anybody point me in the right direction to find such? Thanks, No Horse Hair

Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329
Ask Coffinmaker. We found a source a few years ago, but I can't remember who it was. --Dawg
Black RZR
Ok since we on front sites. What is best way to remove front site wedge on 58 Remington. I want to switch blade to brass post…
Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329
If I remember correctly, Ubertis have a dovetailed front sight & Piettas are soldered. --Dawg

Some of these sights use a larger dovetail than the .375" most commonly found on modern firearms.
Goody, SASS #26190
Wouldn't a dovetailed front sight constitute an adjustable sight and therefore be legal in age based and BW only?

Quote - Allowed Exceptions: Original open-top cartridge revolvers, cap and ball revolvers, cartridge conversion revolvers, and their modern made replicas may have either a dovetail front or rear sight, and they must conform to the types commonly found on the originals. Colorado Coffinmaker
OK. "Skinner" sights make really nice solid brass front sights with dovetail bases. Different width base and different height sight blades can be ordered.
No Horse Hair, SASS #77464
You guys are the best! Checked thru the suggestions and I'm going to measure a little but I think that brass skinner sight will work. If all goes well, I'll have 1860 R-M w/brass front sight, checkered grips, turned down hammers and smooth action......maybe w/3 barrel lengths -ya' know one will be stubby! Black RZR
I still think Ruger Blackhawks with those sites shouldn’t be allowed…..but that’s another fight lol
