Painted Mohawk SASS 77785
Long story short I picked up an early '94 Marlin .44mag for $ 90 .. 10 years ago. The stock was ruined so this is the end result of fitting & finishing a pine piece that came with the gun but did not fit [I still have a little bit more to do ]..I burnt the timber then used tru-oil & finished with boiled linseed oil. Came with the Williams peep sight...

Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
A fine piece! And I like your choice of rear sight. The receiver sight is not SASS legal, of course, but an excellent sight for hunting... I've had a similar one on my .30-30 336 since 1971. Works well for California Blacktail deer.
