Dutch Nichols, SASS #6461 272 Posted October 2, 2020 A rifle with a semi buckhorn rear if you add a marbles tang sight do you have to drift the rear sight out? Or will you merely sight thru the rear sight if you use the tang site? sort of a co-witness type thing? my thanks in advance
G W Wade 943 Posted October 2, 2020 Mine does not. Peep aligns to the left of buckhorn. GW
Major Crimes 2,271 Posted October 2, 2020 I took the buckhorn off my 1886 to fit a tang sight.
Two Shoots 28 Posted October 2, 2020 Mine lined up ok, but the wings of the buckhorn we’re distracting so I drifted it out and put in a blank in the dovetail. The Williams blank has a set screw so it’s easier to install than the Marble version that is just a pressure fit. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1005991839

Abilene, SASS # 27489 1,099 Posted October 2, 2020 Two mention of wings being distracting. What if the rear sight was flat top?
Rough 'N Ready Rob 32 Posted October 2, 2020 On my Marlin 38-55 I use a fold down sight in the dovetail, 100 yds minus and tang sight 200 yds plus, works for me.

Yusta B. 1,426 Posted October 2, 2020 Put in a fold down flat top in case your tang sight gets broken/damaged, etc.
