Chili Ron
Howdy, I was over on midwayusa website looking at scopes and they have a blemish leupold scope regular around $1000 discount to $770. One only. Could be a good deal for those pards who seem to keep looking for spotting scopes..... Something to look into if you want a spotting scope. Leupolds don't go cheap very often. Check in to the warranty...... Best CR ps- Im not a scope salesman. From time to time pards ask about spotting scopes and this looks like a good one time deal. I have all the spotting scopes I need. Im just pointing out a nice looking possibility. I found it while checking out a totally different item on midway. and thanks, it is the one Hillbilly Drifter linked. The Original Lumpy Gritz
Here is what I use, has much better glass than Luppy. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/917619-REG/celestron_52305_regal_m2_80ed_spotting.html OLG
Chili Ron
Howdy, I don't know which might be better. Its hard to evaluate unless in the field side by side etc. I just thought some pards look for scope deals and here one is. My ranger bets on Leupold. ymmv. Best CR and Merry Christmas pards everywhere.
DocWard
I wasn't aware Celestron made spotting scopes. They make some very good telescopes for amateur astronomers though. I have an old Meade, but many of the people in my astronomy club have Celestrons. If the lottery ever lands in my favor (I keep forgetting to play), I'll upgrade to a top of the line Celestron. Capt. James H. Callahan
Had the opportunity to buy a used Leupold years ago with a slight defect and have been kicking myself ever since for not getting it. I was shooting IHMSA at the time, used a spotting scope all the time. I used to marvel looking thru other peoples' Leupolds and watching gnats flying around the rams at 200m (not an exaggeration!). Don't use one that much anymore, $770 is still worth more than I'd use the scope, as much as I'd love one. JHC

Hillbilly Drifter
The better deal to me (although still not willing to spend the $$) is the Vortex Razor 20-60x85 with tripod marked down from 1750.00 to 1149.00. Awesome glass
Kingair
Once you jump into that price range the market really open for premium glass Kowa is good as well Athlon Optics Cronus is a good one as well https://athlonoptics.com/product-category/spotting-scopes/athlonoptics-spotting-scopes-cronus/ Got their Cronus BTR on several of my rifles and it has C L E A R glass ! https://athlonoptics.com/product-category/spotting-scopes/athlonoptics-spotting-scopes-cronus/
JD Lud
Vortex razors were on clearance for 700 bucks not too long ago, might find some left. SWFA Optics Talk is a good place to look at reviews and they have a spotting scope section. Lots of people with lots of experience.
The Original Lumpy Gritz
I did a SxS with my Celestron and a Luppy(don't recall the model). The Celestron had far less CR, and better color, especially at the higher power settings. The Celestron also would give you a better mirage image. Kowa is nice-The Celestron is only a bit less in optical quality. IMNSHO-Celestron has the 'best-bang-for-the-buck'. I will say the Vortex is VERY nice and after I win the lotto. I will own one......... YMMV- OLG
Ethan Cord
The wife and I were in Yellowstone in 2015. Some folks we met had a Ziess spotting and were watching a moose at more than a mile away. I was offered the opportunity to take a peek and the optics were very impressive. Very pricey equipment, but when OLG wins the lottery I will let him buy me one!
Chili Ron
Howdy, I attended a shooting match a few years back. I took the opportunity to compare a number of setups. If you get such a chance take it. Those little bitty Leupold binocs really compared well to other glass. I never did get them..... Best CR
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Luppy today-Is NOT what it was. Check out reviews of scopes on the bird watching sites. Celestron is well liked. OLG
Happy Jack, SASS #20451
Just get it over with and buy the BEST. These scopes are beyond amazing in color and clarity. I have looked through ALL of the high end scopes, KOWA, Vortex, Leica, Swaro, etc. None of them come even close. In case you don't know Hensoldt is Zeiss high end military line. Lumpy, I have a 6" Celestron, still not close, and I agree Luppy isn't what it used to be. I haven't bought their stuff for at least 6 years. If you are running a mil reticle get the Hensoldt 45 with the Horus reticle in the 1st. Focal plane . If you have a MOA reticle get the Hensoldt 60. Yes, they are $4300, but the best is never cheap.
