Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I'm speechless. Well not really, but any comments I make would get me banned. "Bergdahl hasn’t spoken publicly about his decision to walk away from his post or his subsequent five-year imprisonment by the Taliban and the prisoner swap in May 2014 that secured his return to the United States. But during the past several months, he spoke extensively with screenwriter Mark Boal, who shared about 25 hours of the recorded interviews with Sarah Koenig for her popular podcast, “Serial.” Bergdahl says in the interviews that he walked off his base to cause a crisis that would catch the attention of military brass. He wanted to warn them about what he believed were serious problems with leadership in his unit. And he wanted to prove himself as a real-life action hero, like someone out of a movie." http://www.kansascity.com/news/nation-world/national/article49692015.html
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 So that is why he did it? I always wondered about that.
Yul Lose Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 My BS detector is pegging the scale on this one.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I am getting peculiar readings on my BS detector also, Yul.
Sedalia Dave Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 NOW YOU HAVE GONE AND DONE IT!!! Made my BS meter hit the peg so hard that the needle snapped off.
Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 I'm reminded of a case many years ago where a man was convicted for murdering his wife in their garage with a hatchet. His defense was he didn't know it was her as it was dark and the thought it was a raccoon.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Defense attorneys can be very creative sometimes.
Trailrider #896 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Whatever happens, if Bergdahl is tried by general court-martial, and convicted, regardless of the punishment handed down by the court, both will be reviewed by the commanding general, then by the Court of Military Appeals. If all confirm the verdict, it can still be appealed to the federal courts and even to the Supreme Court. This will take quite awhile. In the meantime, not knowing all the facts, I will withhold comment.
Blackwater 53393 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I can't say what I'd like to here!! Those of you who know me are welcome to fill in the blanks!!!
Shorty Jack Hammer Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Yesterday the Army ordered he be court martialed for desertion, facing life.
Bad Hand Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I guess that based on his vast military experience, he knew more than all the NCOs and Officers in that unit.
Guest Grass Range #51406 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 He is a deserter and traitor and deserves life in prison
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Well, Im guess we will just have to see how this plays out. In times past, they shot deserters in time of war. I doubt that they will do that.
