THANKS to all the vendors at RANGE WAR 2013 ~ saved a little money to enjoy their services and I especially enjoyed Jim Downing's work on my Vaqueros...have had these pistols since 1994 and figure they will be family heirlooms therefore not for sale in my lifetime....

Had the similar job made by Jim on my old vaquero and my pietta, plus a wine branch on one chamber of each revolver (to locate the empty chamber) and I enjoy greatly his work!

I have a Cimarron 5 1/2" 45 Artillary model. I had Jim do the Back strap first, then the Cylinder the following Year. This next Winter Range he will complete the job with the barrel & ejector housing. Then it is time for a Re-Blue job.

Jim does nice work.

Mine also will be passed along after my passing.

Mr. Downing did one of my Vaqueros at Mule Camp in 2010. I shoot a plain work gun and wanted an engraved BBQ gun, like many of the cowboys of the 19-th century. He offers a great deal on doing the backstrap while you wait but I suggest also getting the bottom of the grip frame done at the same time. These are two parst of the gun grips that really show while your sixgun is in the holster.

  • 3 weeks later...

Jim did the side plates on my '73 last year in Florida. Not much of that art in my area. (Nova Scotia) Looks great!
