Hogleg Hunter
Are there any gunsmiths that specialize in the open top colts? Would like to get them smoothed up to use as my backup main match pistols.
Badlands Beady
A while back, someone had a two-part do-it-yourself course on opentop action jobs in the Chronical. I keep meaning to find it and print it out, but somehow never get around to it.

Abilene Slim SASS 81783
Howdy Hogleg, if you don't want to do the work yourself, Alan Harton did a great job on mine. I tried myself at first, but mine had severe timing issues (although purchased new). Â Â Single Action Service (713) 907-6031 Â Good luck!
Rafe Conager SASS #56958
Ole #4 did my 60 RM conversions, they go the same works as a 72 open top Rafe
Bad Hand
Howdy Hogleg, if you don't want to do the work yourself, Alan Harton did a great job on mine. I tried myself at first, but mine had severe timing issues (although purchased new). Â Â Single Action Service (713) 907-6031 Â Good luck! He did my 2 open tops, and made my ROA into a bisley. I don't think you can beat his work.
Colorado Coffinmaker
Â You might want to give a shout to "The Ottaway Smith" aka: Ron Snover inTenn. Knows what he's doing.
Texas Jim Henry, SASS #20616
Another tip of the hat to Alan Harton in Houston. Not only does he have a thorough knowledge of the mechanics, but he also knows which internals on the Italian guns need additional heat treatment so their life is significantly increased. His prices are quite reasonable, also. Â Regards, TJH
