H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
Here's an idea I thought I'd run up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes it. Call one local match a year the "bona fide antique match." In general it is identical to a normal sass match, but anyone who brings a genuine antique firearm, (that is to say, 1898 or earlier) gets a cheap ribbon. Nothing fancy or expensive, just something that'd be nice to maybe tack onto a guncart perhaps. Possible addition, whoever has the oldest pistol, rifle or shotgun, gets a little something extra. Might be a nice way to encourage folks with real old timers that are still shootable to bring and show them off.

Doc Neeley
Do antique lemon squeezers count? A local pard, Nelse McCloud only shoots antique firearms.
Waimea
I really hate this idea .... ... because I don't have anything to show off. Course I could go out and find something to buy. OK, I'm in. Waimea
Doc Windshadow
I like it... but then my army issued SAA left Colt in August of 1876....
Black Tooth Zach
Neat idea - see some of the old stuff that isn't used for typical matches. Would the most 'antique' shooter get an award as well?
San Fernando Slim, SASS #20521
I thought you meant an antique shooter.
Cypress Sam, SASS #10915
Hey Waimei, I seem to remember a certain drilling? Looked old to me! How about a 5 or 10 second bonus for each bonafide antique you use? Maybe up to four.
Driftwood Johnson, SASS #38283
Howdy I'll show up. Winchester '92 and Marlin '94 made in 1894 and 1895 respectively. My main match shotgun won't qualify, it's too new, around 1906 or so. Got a Smith or two that would probably qualify too.
Mack Hacker, #60477
They used to have an antique class in tractor pulls around here where the age of the tractor and the age of the operator had to total 100 years. 150 might work for SASS. Doc Coles SASS 1188
Heck, my pal Hangtown Frye shoots an original Colt cavalry model, an original Colt artillery model, an 1885 Winchester 73 and an original Colt double shotgun.
