I was going to give a wise ass reply in a different thread (Surprised? ) and an interesting question came to mind. Nevada sweeps don't have to start on an end target, they can start in the middle. What would be your reaction if a stage called for the shooter to use the rifle to perform two separate Nevada sweeps, both starting in the middle and going in either direction? You'd have to remember to double tap the center with the fifth and sixth rounds. I think that would be pretty cool with pistols, but think it might be considered a P trap for rifles.1 point

I have a 73 and a 66 and a 60 . Love all three of them . But I always seem to go back to my 92's . Lighter and just as smooth . Kinda funny how everyone has a Opinion, With out ever owning a pictorial firearm. I have owned them all , Still have one or more of each one. And still keep going back to my 92's . Im not about speed and never will be as fast as I could be. I have no intrested in practice and dry fire. I shoot Cowboy to play with the guns I love. And to have fun with like minded people. The 92 will do all I need her to do, And more ! But I will say. The 73 is alot easer to clean out BP fouling then the 92 !1 point

I've got several rifles, '66 and '73s, but I'm holding on to my pre-safety half-round, half octagon Rossi '92 in .45colt, and a Winchester '92 in 38WCF. They are good shooters and as accurate as you could want. I shoot them with heavier loads and at longer distances than CAS, but they still make for a decent match gun. Have fun with that '92!1 point

Need trigger stop spring for Win. mod 94, 44 mag. This spring works the lever safety and the trigger return and also holds the main spring in place. Numrich and Jack First don't have anything in stock. Nor does Winchester, Brownells or Midway. Can someone help. Gunsmoke P.S. Ser# 6149XXX Midwest gun works had what I needed. Thanks1 point

Time for you to open up the SASS Shooter's Handbook to page 13. Read through the roughly 32 categories. You may have a few more questions when you complete that exercise. Get the handbook from here: http://www.sassnet.com/Shooters-Handbook-001A.php Good luck, GJ1 point

YEP, we are a peculiar breed. I kinda faced the same situation the first few years shooting my Marlin with folks who had some fancy 73's. Wew, I loved those 73's in both their looks and functioning. And nearly all my shooting Pards were nudging me to dump the Marlin and get a nice 73. BUT, for some reason, I just couldn't shoulder one of them as well as I could my 1894 Marlin. Sooooo, I stuck with my Marlin. And to this day, I still shoot my Marlin, which will perform as well as any 73 on the firing line. ..........Widder1 point

One category requires .40 cal minimum. In others .45, .44, .38, .36 and .32 are all legal. So, yes, if you shoot .38s you will be competing against all the others.1 point

For the ATM drive through with Braille, I'm betting it's less expensive to make 'em all with Braille no matter where they are going to be installed rather than have special runs of them just for drive through.1 point

I blame Hogleg Smith, followed closely by Cherokee Charlie and Robin T. Banks. I picked up Hogleg Smith's card at a gun show, because I had just moved to the area and you never know when you'll need a gun smith. At that same show, I picked up a used Ruger Super Blackhawk. I wanted a side arm in the same caliber as my "brush gun". The property I was hunting at the time was mainly swamp, so I needed something short range without a scope. The revolver needed a new cylinder base pin spring. As he was fixing it he asked me if I had ever been to a Cowboy match. Just so happened that there was one the next weekend, four miles from my house. Some of the first two characters I met at the match were Cherokee Charlie and Robin T. Banks. They made me feel right at home and got me right in the middle of the action. I went out and bought a double barrel and another Super Blackhawk. I then bought .44 special dies and started loading .44 special. The month after the wife, Bea Itchin' started shooting. Haven't looked back.1 point

W3G! WTG didn't look right when I wrote it! On thinking about it I bet I know some folks who could be game........ I will keep you posted. Dusty1 point

Allie Moe, WTG looks to me to be lots of fun. I'm not aware of it being shot in north Texas area but if ever happens around here I would sign up for it. I do shoot a fair amount of combat style matches featuring a lot of movement around here and just to keep it interesting I use a Suomi 9mm carbine or a 27 Thompson carbine . pistols are hi powers or 1911's. At the carbine matches I've ran my m1 carbines against the black guns........Of course we still shoot a lot of wild bunch and are having a large time with it also. As far as worry about changing rules for different types of matches I don't think that's really an issue unless it's how you earn your moneyI mean we are all doing this for fun and entertainment aren't we? Well, They're affordable. They're Ugly. They go BANG. They're Ugly, They're prone to breakage. Did I mention They're Ugly?? I don't think they make a good "starter." In my experience, Short term temporary fix's tend to stick much longer than one intends. Were I to recommend a shotgun for "starting out" it would also be a shotgun you can live with for a while. Stoeger. Well priced, well made (for a price point), reliable, modifiable, good choice for a hammerless. If your in lust specifically for a Hammer Double (Most cowboy of all) then the best value for dollar is Cimarron's 1878 replica. Built like a tank, soaks up recoil. Reliable, modifiable, again, best value for dollar in a Hammer Double, bar none. Coffinmaker. PS: Did I happen to mention that Century "thing" is really really Ugly??1 point

I was a commercial reloader for cas shooters. I only load for cas. Here is my 2013 ammunition break down on what was loaded. ======================= 38 sp s = 75.94% bullet used was 125TC 357 mag = 8.67% bullet used was 125TC 44 sp = zero 44 mag = .11% bullet used was mix of 200RN and 225RN 44-40 = .09% bullet used was 2o0RN 45 Colt = 14.77% bullet used as 20RN and some 250RN 45-70 = .43% bullet used was 405 FP three lube grooves. Total rounds reloaded was a little of 200,000. There where 32-20 with 119FP but I did not include them in the data. There where maybe 2000 of these made for two shooters. There were also 38-55 245FP. Maybe 500. Mostly for me. My personal ammunition is not included above. 357 125Tc & 45 Colt 200FP.1 point

Thanks, just wondering if you had a 30". I have a pair of old TC Hawken .50's, a standard 28" and a factory 30" which is supposed to be pretty rare. When I got it, I contacted TC because it looked "strange", longer than the other TC Hawkens my shooting buddy's had. TC sent me a letter telling me they made a special run just for sale in Delaware because at that time (late 60's? early 70's?) Delaware required a minimum 30" BP barrel. The gun isn't marked "Delaware Model" or anything like that, just has a longer barrel than any other TC Hawken we'd seen from that era.1 point

Oh, My.. This one should be good for several hundred posts!! IMHO, taking a refresher course documents to SASS that you SHOULD know the rules and are a qualified CRO/TO. Not all CRO/TO’s are created, some good, some bad, most in the middle, regardless of recent attendance to a RO Class. If you are the type that can READ the manual and keep up with the clarifications/changes, and have good mentors, you really don’t need to take a refresher course other than for documentation reasons. Attendance is a good idea, and a good way to review and discuss recent changes, but if you don’t it doesn’t immediately disqualify you from being a CRO/TO especially at the monthly shoot level. When making any call that isn't a run of the mill ruling, always keep, and consult a copy of the miss flowchart and pocket RO card found in the manual even when you "Think" you know the call.. If they're going for price point, go with a '92 instead. Faster resale within CAS shooters, can be smoothed and heck, look at it run! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDfN6KOK4N01 point
