Dusty Morningwood Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I found this 3D printed jig in ebay. This one marked 12.7x44 from .50 Alaskan. Attaches to a small hobby chop saw. I removed one end to accommodate 32 gauge brass. So I am set up to make 12.7x44R from .50 Alaskan and .50-70 from 32 gauge. The 32 gauge needs to be cut and run in steps into .50-70 sizing die. Take it slow. Both cases then filed to length in a .50-70 trim die. Then prepare cases as usual.
Hoss Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 I got one of those mini chop saws from harbor freight, used it with a 3D printed Jig, to trim 45-70 to 45-60. Worked perfectly. Those are handy saws!
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 I need to make a jig for mine. This winter I plan to make a pile of Two and a Half inch 12 Gage. Actually, a LARGE pile.
Lucky R. K. Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Here is another way to trim shotgun shells. Works pretty well. Lucky
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Very cool Lucky. First you gotta have the lathe

I know a guy who uses a piece of dowel rod cut to length and a utility knife to trim his shells. I was just showing one way to do it and maybe inspire some cowboy to come up with a different way. largo casey #19191 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I use one to trim 44\40 to 44/40 short. Largo

Worked pretty good!
