THE SW51 KIT PLANE IS AFFORDABLE.

Now let’s take a look at what you get in your SW51 build kit. Basically the plane comes much like the model kits of the 1980’s. It takes an estimated 1,500 hours to build this kit if you are a beginner. The kit costs $158,000.

Completing the build will cost you approximately $300,000. A full scale mustang is a million dollar adventure. It also costs $800.00 per hour to operate!

When we owned a new 48ft Carver, the complete build of the P-51 is lower as to what the Carver was. Our maintenance cost, docking, fuel, upkeep, insurance, haul out, etc. of what we put into the Carver, the P-51 would be less. We had 2 good times with the Carver, when we bought it, and 12 years later when we sold it. Only good thing we never ran into problems going to the islands, just when we cruised the inter-coastals. 1450. Dockage a month alone.boatislan.thumb.jpg.8cd937d373805dc7b8f73ecaae5f56e7.jpg

I've got one of those on one of my key rings.  It has the maker G.G. Greene, US and 1951 stamped on it.  Was my Dad's.  But it is a P-38 and not a P-51.

My garage and pasture aren't big enough for something like that and besides, I couldn't afford to feed it and keep it healthy.

I also couldn't afford a Beech Stagger Wing nor a BD5J so I settled for a pickup instead.
